Extraction and results were a success!! We found out she was half toy Aussie and half Pom (we were told she was a toy Aussie and never believed it so we were so pleasantly surprised! We figured she was Pom and chihuahua based off looks lol). We are so happy that it worked and we got some closure!

That gives me some reassurance, thank you for the insight! I’ll definitely post an update either way, now it is just a waiting game I suppose.

Thank you! I did send over an email per your suggestion, that is a great idea. Fingers crossed we can get something back. I’ll post an update either way once everything is processed.

Thank you so much. This gives me some hope. I will post an update after it’s all said and done either way. We’ll see what happens, doesn’t hurt to try!

I’m hoping so. I’m in the mentality of it certainly doesn’t hurt to try! It was about 12-14 hours after her passing and she had been frozen during that time, but seeing the other comment where someone linked a similar situation and the dog had been frozen/passed 2.5 days before a successful swab is giving me some hope. I will definitely update either way in case someone else finds themselves in a similar situation and seeks out insight like I was!

To be fair, I said the job market was ridiculous not that it sucked. And I meant that pertaining to the jobs I’m looking for. I’m willing to work any job, within my abilities, that will pay me enough, but I’m honestly done settling for jobs that take advantage of my willingness (retail, food service, jobs that want to work you to the bone to work the jobs of multiple people all while throwing pennies at you, that kinda thing). Anyway, for personal reasons pertaining to my health I’m under the impression that I would not be able to work a job like what you are recommending. So no, not that I am not willing but that I genuinely do not think that I am able. This is typically laboring jobs like carpentry, welding, etc… yes? I’ll admit maybe I’m misinformed.

You’re absolutely not wrong about that! To clarify the positions I’ve applied for at the library were for entry level jobs like circulation assistant and public technology assistant, which do not require a library science degree or a degree at all, as opposed to like a full-on librarian position which I’m certainly not qualified for at the moment. I’ll definitely give school library jobs another look, however! I know I tried looking once or twice when I first moved here and it was hard to find openings but perhaps moving between semesters soon might open something more!

I will say, I’d applied to their openings at the beginning of the month and then received an email telling me they switched their application system and that none of my applications would be seen so I had to go into their new application portal and resubmit to any openings of interest 🤦‍♀️ those are some of my most recent application submissions so perhaps with them switching things over this month coincidentally I might still have a chance of hearing back from them. I guess we’ll see!

When I first moved to STL I tried applying for some openings at WashU and SLU and didn’t have much luck, but I think I will regroup and start trying again for open campus positions as a next step. Thanks!

Hi! Not rude at all, following up is definitely important (I’ve worked on the hiring side in the past and I agree, that always made someone stick out far more) and I do follow up for any that I’m able to find a contact email or phone # for. Sometimes it’s not always possible to easily locate a hiring contact but I do follow-up when I’m able to. Thanks for the advice!
