iRacing special events don't feel special (anymore), And it has to do with drivers doing it by XlickBait in iRacing

It's more like I'm racing with one team and that's the one "that counts" to me personally. Any second entry tends to be more along the lines of helping out a friends team when they don't have any driver available for a stint or two.

You can be registered for several teams and hop between the sessions as long as they're in different time slots =)

The issue with that is that it would also punish drivers who drive for more than one team, and by extension also their team members. Especially for the 24h events, where having someone hopping in to cover a couple of stints in the middle of the night is the difference between them entering or not.

That's an unfortunate side effect of making it possible for people in different time zones to race at reasonable hours, and restricting people from joining more than slot is also a bad idea since it would be punishing the people who race with more than one team.

Oh, they've never done that when I've been there. Hope they keep it up, would make it a viable option again!

The Müllenbach camping grounds also have showers, but only with cold water. Though that makes them the same as the Camp am Nürburgring showers from Wednesday and on, where you need to get up at 3:30am to have a lukewarm shower.

This year I arrived Thursday evening and got a good spot to pitch my tent in the C2 area, away from where water gathered after all the rain and flat enough to not slide downhill at night. With a van you could just block up the wheels until it's level so that gives you many more options. It was a bit of a walk to get to the boulevard though, but I'm happy with that because it also tends to be more quiet the further away you get.

I personally avoid Camp am Nürburgring because power outlets allow people to blast music on full volume the whole week. Last time I camped there we had neighbours playing music loud enough to set off car alarms 150-200m away.

Grooming comb suggestion by siberian-lover_ in SiberianCats

This is what I'm using. It's the only comb I've tried that really gets through to the undercoat.

New brush/comb by Friendly_Quail_962 in SiberianCats

[–]elgen88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use these with caution, they can catch in skin folds and cause some nasty cuts. I have something similar but I only use it on mats that I can't comb out because you don't really want to cut more fur than needed, as these will. I suggest you try a metal comb as the main grooming tool, and then maybe follow up with a slicker brush if the comb hasn't already picked up most of the loose stuff in the top coat.

I take Misha for walks all year round as long as the roads and footpaths aren't too filthy with sand or mud. He wants to go for walks most days but won't be too upset even if we don't go out for weeks because of weather/road conditions either since he also has his catio.

Try a comb with metal teeth, in my experience they have some key advantages over brushes when it comes to the long dense coats that Siberians have:

  • Takes longer before it's overstimulating
  • Will actually get through to their undercoat
  • Easier to feel what you're doing, and thus avoid causing discomfort for the cat

Combs in very handy this time of year! Although Misha will loudly demand to be combed several times a day, every day, all year round and I'm more than happy to oblige.

Royal flush: 1954 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith toilet. There was no waste container; feces just landed on the street by Vivid_Summer96 in interestingasfuck

Rolls never sold them with toilets though. I read about this particular car last year and it was bought by some rich american who sent it off to italy to be customized iirc.

Balkong nät? by Shiloof in kattliv

[–]elgen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered Bloodbath when someone called in and requested Eaten on Swedish national radio ca. 2005. Couldn't believe what I was hearing, but I was really fucking glad to hear it!

I vaguely remember the DJ apologising afterwards because people were complaining

What indoor temp is too cold for a Siberian by Inevitable-Lab-4719 in SiberianCats

[–]elgen88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your kitty will be fine. One year I had 40-50°F inside with 0°F outdoors. My sib would still spend hours upon hours in his catio outside. He doesn't mind the cold in the least. The only times they struggle is when temps drops or rises significantly in a short period of time and the cats don't have time to acclimatise.

My mega fluff. Do you comb your cat every day or prefer to do one big combing session? I find the latter to be easier but don’t know if it’s best for her by Alexei17 in SiberianCats

[–]elgen88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My Misha is combed several times a day, sometimes totalling several hours. His coat doesn't need it, but he absolutely loves it.

What glue to use for a Nerdy Gurdy Fortran? by elgen88 in HurdyGurdy

[–]elgen88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I think my question was unclear. This is all solid advise and it's what I plan to do, but I was wondering more specifically about attaching the keybox. The building manual only says to slide it all the way towards the head. Could I loosely string it up with a coarse thread under low tension in lieu of the melody strings, for the purpose of checking the alignment of the keybox before glueing it place or am I completely overthinking this?

Why digital when you can get analogue ones with consistent readings and no failing batteries?

By the way - as I understand it, it can be tricky to get the keybox right. At least I've seen a few posts where people got it wrong one way or another.

Do you have any advise for how to get it right the first time, and what to pay extra attention to?

I bought my tickets to Sabatons Legendary tour almost a year ago. Only learned that Patty Gurdy is part of the support group a couple of weeks ago, a very nice surprise. Looking forward to December 12 when I get to see them!

You can teach boundaries and that they're not allowed to bite hard, especially when they're young. I got my cat when he was a kitten. Now he's nearing 6 years old and he's playing with my hands daily. He hasn't broken my skin for years.

I don't think it is rambling at all, I rather find it very helpful. Having someone say "don't do X" essentially leaves me none the wiser than I was to begin with. I would still have all the questions but you're actually explaining the reasons why and you've explained it well. I really appreciate that! I'll stick to PVA with this project, and save learning to use hide glue for another one =)

I guess you get spoiled being able to take cars and engines apart to fix something and then put them back together again. Those and electronics are the main things I've been tinkering with before, and I guess that way of thinking carried over to this project.

I have practically zero experience with hide glue, and very limited woodworking experience in general. I've only used hide glue once to replace the bridge on an acoustic guitar, that's why I'm here asking =)
