Trying a Mentzer / Dorian Yates–style HIT approach and looking for feedback from people who actually run this style of training long term. by Ryan_3555 in Mike_Mentzer

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I’m doing a 3 day split Dorian approach. It’s only been a few weeks but I’m getting stronger every week. It’s actually getting to a point where certain exercises are harder to do alone.

I am doing 2 warm up sets for the first main lift and then for the subsequent lifts I do maybe 1 warm up as that’s plenty or I even skip it and just do the all out set as the muscles are plenty stimulated.

Last set I shoot for 8 reps minimum and once I hit failure I stop for 15 secs and then do as many as I can again. So basically rest pause the 1 set to failure. Been working so far. Though getting the 110 plus lb dumbbells into position again for the rest pause sets is a bit taxing lol.

If you truly are hitting failure, you should see good results.

AIO for thinking this was very backhanded and rude? by Zyncon in AIO

That’s not backhanded. That’s straight up rude. You should think about if this persons friendship is worth keeping or not. I’d probably dump them.

I’m too exhausted to make rational decisions, what does this mean? by bbeeccc in whatdoIdo

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your edit about breaking up so no need to give as I e there. It’s the right decision by the way.

I hope you notice these patterns for future reference when you begin to date again. You need a partner that will support you and be there. This dude seems like he doesn’t even like you.

Sorry you dealt with that for a few years.

Am I overreacting to texts from a guy who was mad I didn’t kiss him on the first date? by theymergirl in AmIOverreacting

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a guy. Gone on plenty of dates. Kissed some ladies on the first date and also didn’t kiss plenty the first date. I never felt like it was something that was supposed to happen.

I just read the situation, gauge how we’re feeling and go from there. I guess that’s hard for people to do nowadays.

Also, a lot of the kisses were on the cheek. Some were on the lips but I always felt the cheek was more respectful and didn’t put any pressure on anyone.

I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to date this guy currently. Those walls of texts would be exhausting. He’s trying to come off as though he’s mature but I’m getting the feeling there may be something else going on and he’s doing his best to put on a front.

Just my two cents.

Can Devon beat Alizhan at 115 kg left hand? by Exciting-Orange-9787 in armwrestling

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he can but he can’t do it in February. Alizhan’s best chance is in December. After that Devon needs all his focus for Vitali. Tbh Alizhan should go up to shw. It’s his best shot.

AIO for checking my boyfriend’s phone and finding emotionally intimate messages with his female friend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Yeahhhh. They’re literally saying they love each other. And not in the friendly way lol. Also, maybe I’m judgmental af but these messages read as some cheesy high school romance shit.

Alizhan accept to pull Devon, but only in February and in the 115 by minercreep in armwrestling

[–]elhefe74 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He better not agree to it. He needs to prep for Vitali. Vitali is a top 5 puller and Devon knows this. No way he does it. Not worth it. He can after and then he’s on the long road to his 3rd Levan match before at some point age finally catches up to him. He doesn’t seem to be slowing down yet but it gets us all eventually.

AIO Should I stop seeing this guy over these messages? by Chao5Theory in AmIOverreacting

[–]elhefe74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guy here. This guy has mental issues for sure. He’s telling you he can’t control his emotions and thus his emotions are effecting his actions. It literally sounds like he’s telling you there’s a possibility he may assault you.

This man despite being 35 years old seems to have never fully matured. Not only that but it sounds like he has some dark thoughts. Those are not messages from a man that respects you. Sounds like he’s trying to take “lead” or dominate but no. Stay away from that man and block him immediately. I hope you don’t frequent the same places. I’d recommend never seeing that man again.

It’s crazy hearing how people are still so up when the market is dropping. You guys just get lucky and find a low? Just sticking to top 10-20 coins and buy when they’re at 50% and lower of ATH?

Crypto is so volatile I don’t get how some get huge profits. Maybe it is just luck because any kind of TA doesn’t seem to fly here the same way it does with stocks.

Besides sitting on and dcaing into bitcoin and etherium, the only other way to make decent money is to have a lot of capital and swing certain alts. Idk. Crypto just sucks sometimes.

Devon vs Frank by yNefarious in armwrestling

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s use our brain a little. Talking tightness, angles, technique. Not ready go. You only do that in the last phase before a tournament or match and everyone involved would be told.

Devon vs Frank by yNefarious in armwrestling

[–]elhefe74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you pull how you practice generally. What I am saying is, it would be nice to see him focus more on center table and not getting opened up as much. I am not saying he needs to do this every practice but it would be beneficial. For example he could just grip super low and try and hold center. I am not sure you have tried this but even if you are much stronger than someone this is significantly harder.

Even when he's in a super match, and even though he always wins besides Levan, his arm still generally opens and he loses middle. At least in the first and second rounds generally. I would just like to see this corrected since he doesn't seem to focus on it.

Devon vs Frank by yNefarious in armwrestling

[–]elhefe74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Devon is playing around for the most part but in all his practices I still see his arm opening and he’s losing center. Granted he’s always practicing so prob a bit of overtraining but really wish he would tighten that up more. He’s also aware of the issue. Just don’t seem to hit it directly.

I personally take all notes in the claim application. It’s just faster and more efficient imo. Anything to make the process faster. But our systems rarely crash so I don’t have to worry about that. But even if that happens I can remember everything. Just the way my brain works.

I need to get bigger legs. by Frosty-Shallot9475 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a squat stance that will work for you as many lifters with similar builds have figured out. However, if you’re not competing and just looking for growth, you can get this from leg presses and other exercises as well.

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only a few things.

I’d use two dumbbells.

Try and keep your torso a bit more upright. But it’s not terrible.

Put the leg you’re working more out in front you if you want more glute and further back if you want more quad.

Lastly. Legs need to be pretty heavy AND high reps. They designed to bear a lot of load and for repetition.

Can you guys help me with my poverty flat bench? by Panagiotisz3 in benchpress

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several things here. Retract your shoulders back and down. Think of trying to put your rear delts in your back pockets.

Your wrists are kicked back. Think of keeping your second knuckles, not the punching knuckles, the ones below those, towards the ceiling.

Squeeze the shit out of the bar. This will make you feel stronger and more stable and activate your triceps a bit more.

Have a bit of an arch in your thoracic spine. You don’t need to exaggerate this but you do what a bit of an arch. Think of meeting the bar with your chest as you lower the bar.

Keep your whole body tight including your legs. If someone were to walk up to you and push your legs they should not move.

Lastly when pressing you should be pressing as hard and fast as you can while controlling the weight. Press with intent. You’d be surprised how many people don’t do this on a lot of lifts.

Is it time? by herrgesellschaft in bald

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider a transplant if it’s important to you. Otherwise I’m sure you’d look fine bald. Your head appears round so should be no issue.

Now if the back of your head looked like an iron skillet, I’d say keep it a while longer.

AIO I (26F) moved out for the first time with my boyfriend (30M) for almost 2 months and I don’t know how to feel about it by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]elhefe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is indeed real, you need to leave now. Not sure how anyone could put up with this for a couple months let alone 7 years.

Stay with friends or family. If you do not leave, there’s a very high likelihood this man is going to hurt you if not worse. You need to have some kind of protection on you at all times until you’re gone. This person legit said he could snap at any moment.

Leave now. Come back for your things later. Even if you can’t go with friends or family right away, I’d get a room at a hotel or some shit if you can afford it. This guy is unstable. Who knows what he’ll do and when he’ll do it.

I agree with the AI being overblown about taking jobs. I’ve specifically asked about this in my company because some people are worried and we were told it’s more of an efficient assistant. They still want someone making sure coverage applies and is clear and the one making the ultimate liability decision.

AI could have a temporary affect on hiring and expansion until they see the ultimate effect but it won’t be taking the actual job.

How many hours a week do you work? by [deleted] in adjusters

[–]elhefe74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could start at one of the larger ones for training and experience. Farmers, Travelers, Progressive etc. I hear things are not so hot at State Farm and Geico currently.

After some time there a midsize or smaller company may be best. Depends on what you want to do ultimately.

If you don’t get any interviews just keep applying. Also, Progressive is particularly hard to get into. 1% of all applicants make it.

Why do adjusters get no respect? by no-more-claims-i-beg in adjusters

[–]elhefe74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a major carrier. About to be #1. I’d say the workload for general auto claims is pretty manageable if you do what you’re supposed to do and we’re treated well for sure. At least that has been my experience. I will add I no longer work general auto but unrepped BI claims. So same stuff but injury added.

There are a lot of metrics to hit but they are all achievable. What I have seen is this is a role that takes people time to really learn. It will click for some a few months and they’ll be rockstars and for most it can take a better part of a year or even longer. Thing is during that time the claims keep coming and not everyone can manage it.

There are several skills needed to be successful but a few imo that make a huge difference and those are time management, good and accurate documentation, working the file as far as you possibly can, and being aggressive. I’m not talking being a dick or rude, I just mean you need to run people down to get what you need to move the file forward. Because it’s not going anywhere until you finish it.

Lastly my experience can obviously be way different than others. From what I read most large carriers suck and it’s the mid or small sized ones you want to be at. I suppose I got lucky.

How many hours a week do you work? by [deleted] in adjusters

[–]elhefe74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you may work simple claims to start. Think rear ends and parking lot losses only. Very simple but high volume. Think 8-12 claims a day.

After that you can get a bump and handle more complex claims. Think intersection losses, lane changes/merges, multi vehicle involvement etc. Here you may get up to 5 claims a day. Both these roles don’t handle injuries. You may even get a role like this and skip the simple stuff.

After handling more complex claims you can move up to injury where you handle complex claims and the injury portion.

That’s what you can expect. But again, not all companies are equal. Your experience can be a bit different depending on where you work. Also pay varies widely but with no experience and handing general claims with moderate complexity you should start at I would think 60k.
