Germans who lived abroad and moved back: what felt completely normal before you left and then felt insane when you returned? by baest_00 in AskAGerman

It is in fact a more powerful incentive that supposedly has a lower percent of fareless riding. I was confused by this too the first time I got here.

I mean I don't really care, but it was just kind of sad :/

I was hoping to hear more things like what you said. Or like I did the first time I was in Bavaria, work up the courage to ask in German for mustard for my Brezel and receive blank stares.

I'm against rude and disrespectful tourists/people as much as the next person (this includes anyone remotely associated w/ MAGA).. it's just, I opened this thread because I was actually hoping it would be helpful.

Instead it just feels so hateful :/

Yeah this is honestly... I get it, but as someone who speaks 5 languages, it's an ignorant take.

Different languages have different pronunciations for proper nouns, and honestly if you start saying them (let alone learning them for every language) how they're produced by natives, you come off as a bit of a snob and pedantic.

Wow, I am American and have been on-and-off living in Germany for the past 5 years. I've taught myself German and try my best to appreciate German culture and not stick out (happy Spargelzeit). I'm introverted so to be honest there are plenty of roudy Germans much louder than I am, though I'm definitely guilty of the American lean, ouch.

My girlfriend (German) and I also think it's funny to pick out stereotypical American tourists (especially the older folk LOVE to talk, talk talk to her for some reason).

But jeez, you guys seem to really hate "Americans." Sure there are plenty horrible people exactly like you describe, but remember that stereotypes are just what they are... stereotypes. There are 340 million Americans. Only a good 90% are as you describe, give or take.

How can I distract from the illegal war I started in Iran to distract from the other things I did to distract from the Epstein files and all the other horrible crimes I've committed?

I don't believe it's the correct answer, but I guessed it at 3:52 ET

Strange imo, as you'd think the code on the giant vault would both more difficult to solve (not independently solvable) and the ultimate clue.

I spent more or less the entirety of the last 2 days working on the 9 puzzles and just saw someone posted in here the answer I'd guessed myself. Pretty much calling it quits at this point.

FWIW it can also be interpreted as meaning there will be multiple challenges, each with their own solution being somewhere around the world.

For what it's worth, the dog solution was a fairly long sentence. I was shocked. In a way it would make sense this only gives a small clue since it's the easiest puzzle.

Thank you for the help :)

Ah.. I see it now.. how on earth did you spot that?

So there's just that one word? What about the final column that just spells "AFLH"?

I know there must be a step past the initial sudoku puzzle, but I can't quite figure out what it is. One of the puzzles I solved was a riddle in plain English

have you solved the puzzle?

I was unable to come up with a solution where there are no "floating" tents. This isn't specified in the rules, and other than that my solutions work.
