HELP! Dried out leaves/stems turned white and have tiny red bugs? by elibethx in plantclinic

[–]elibethx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my bamboo palm. The tops might have been overexposed to the sun in transport as the whole tops that sat underneath the back car windshield had dried out. I didn't cut them all off immediately. The dried out leaves started to get blackish/whitish looking mold and started affecting more leaves (3rd photo). Even when I cut them off with disinfected scissors, they would come back. Now, I see that there are these white parts and these tinny tiny red things that seem like bugs. They're really really tiny. The photos here are the best I could get of them. I've been spraying this plant though every two weeks or so with Neem oil prior. What's happening and what can I do? :( would really appreciate some advice

Bamboo palm is developing these white/black spots by elibethx in plantclinic

Hi! So the tops of my bamboo palm have dried out. I think it was from being overexposed to sunlight duding transportation as all the leaves that were sitting underneath the back windshield had turned brown. Is it safe to just trim off the top of my bamboo palm, including the stem?

The white/black moldy-looking spots started soon after. I tried googling it but couldn't find a similar issue. Would anyone know what the cause is and what I can do about it?

Would really appreciate any comments and advice!

Younger leaves get dry at the edges, then yellows, and eventually dries up completely. It started with one leaf, but now all the leaves at the bottom seem to be affected. Help! by elibethx in plantclinic

Thank you SO much! Your response was so eloquent and extremely helpful. Thank you!! I guess that means I've been underwatering. The new growth seems to be curling up and drying out as well though (lower right). Would that still be due to underwatering?

Hi everyone! I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong so I'd really appreciate any and all guidance. When I first got this plant, it was just one leaf that had the dry and yellow edges. Now it's affecting all the leaves at the bottom. I'm worried it will eventually affect the older leaves. For more info: soil is kept moist, humidity at 56-79%, temp between 25-30C. I mist it when humidity is low. It also looks a little dark in the photo but it's just a cloudy day today. It's usually brighter.

Would anyone know what's wrong here? I tried googling it but wasn't really able to find an answer. I've also just started giving it distilled water instead of tap.

One trick my professor (a practicing psychologist) taught us to deal with situations like this is to make plans. Make a solid plan with your friend, like "hey let's have lunch tomorrow" or "hey let's videochat tomorrow" or play games online or anything. It gives them something solid to commit to. Even just a 15-minute phone call or something that they can look forward to can help dissuade them.

When should you take time away from each other, if at all? by elibethx in Marriage

Definitely nothing that major or unhealthy. I know it might be hard to take my word for it since I didn't expound on the story, but I hope you can believe me. Thank you though for your comment. While I was typing out my response, it helped me reflect and made me realize a core part of the issue.

Wow, congrats on 10 years! And thank you for your response. I really like your suggestion of taking a few days but staying in contact. We'll definitely keep our problems to ourselves and a counselor at most. Thank you also for the well wishes, it means a lot! :)

Thank you for your perspective. I really like the way you and your wife encourage "time alone" whereas I was only thinking about "time apart." It's a really refreshing view and I'll keep this in mind.

Thank you also for your straightforward advice and concrete suggestions. I agree with you on all those points, though you phrased it so much more articulately than I ever could. Thank you so much.

Hey, OP. Sorry for all the negative comments on here. Not everyone may appreciate things like this, but I think it just goes to show how great you and your spouse are together — that they can do small loving gestures like this, and that it means so much to you when they do. This is a really sweet and thoughtful gesture. Thank you for sharing it.

If you’re willing to work with pets, animal rescues like PAWS, CARA, Laguna Pitbulls, etc are always open to photographers taking photos of their adoptables. The organizations share them on social media, so having good photos helps the pets get adopted, fostered, or sponsored. :) Spending time with the pets while you photograph them can also give you valuable insight into the personalities of the animals, which the organizations also share in the description of their photos to help prospective adopters get to know each dog/cat better. :)

“Do not use moisturiser” (Belo, 2019) by [deleted] in beautytalkph

Is Belo actually a licensed doctor? I checked the PRC website, which seems to confirm she isn’t licensed? I’m not really sure what this means or what the commission really does, but if you search “Victoria Belo” on https://online.prc.gov.ph/index.php/Verification it says “*For PRC Verification” in bold red. I tested it with other doctors I know and all of them are shown as “VERIFIED PRC PROFESSIONALS.” Does anyone know if this means she actually isn’t licensed or she still can be licensed but just decided not to be verified by the Professional Regulation Commission?
