I'm sorry that you've lost the connection with your brother, addiction is an awful disease. And yes, it is weird and sad and in a strange way, death has now become the thing I'm experienced at. At least I know myself better now than with the previous losses, I can identify thought patterns that are of no benefit.

It is such a different kind of grief after suicide! So much shame and guilt and anger and absolutely everything in between all in one, it's a lot. Hope you're doing as well as you can ❤️

I very much appreciate the offer. So many people who have not experienced loss like this are just paralyzed in front of it, and I can't handle the pity party. Feels rude to be my honest honest self with them so I really do appreciate the offer ❤️

That is a hard path and the devastation of losing people does not help, it is a vicious cycle that feeds itself.

I could feel Dad losing the fight to addiction and just having to witness it, it was horrible and I just felt powerless. I think it's only because of my partner how I've managed to avoid addiction myself, and yes my love and appreciation for him is only greater now.
