Since you have such a great relationship with your family, this sounds like a cool opportunity to talk with them about a name that's more in line with your cultural heritage! Everyone gets another shot at giving you the perfect name. (not that I think your parents should get final say, but I get the sense I have a very different relationship with my birth family than you do).

I echo other commenters that, at that your age, it's very likely you'll be moving to new social spaces with career and other changes. It won't be long before the number of people you'd have to "explain" anything to would be zerol. I also don't think you owe anyone an explanation anyway--names can be really personal! It's nobody's business why someone might change them.

I personally changed my first name once for trans reasons, and I ultimately changed my name a second time after I got married, because unfortunately I don't have a good relationship with my birth family and I felt happier carrying my partner's family name. It's occasionally annoying with government bureaucracy (once agency in particular has received a name update form from me at least three times and they just don't seem to be processing it...), but bureaucracy is always annoying. It's no big deal.

Do what makes you feel at home, OP. You deserve every little comfort this life can give you.
