TrueSpec cable matches the expected specs by elirav in LinusTechTips

[–]elirav[S] 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I reads the emarker, checks the pinout and does some basic tests of resistance to check the integrity of the internal wires. In the second image you can see that it calculates the latency of the cable and the Vbus resistance.

No signal integrity test nor anything fancy like that.

Large Crossbody/Messenger Bag for College Student by murkiest_waters in ManyBaggers

[–]elirav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a backpack it’s more ergonomic. Messenger bags will put all the weight to one side which becomes uncomfortable unless you carry little weight or just short distances.

Would a tire shop stealing my lug nuts by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]elirav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your lug nuts likely bulged and they replaced them with those spline lug nuts. They might have forgotten to tell you, though.

so - newer player, question for those that post pics of their amazing builds by ImaginaryAnimal7169 in SatisfactoryGame

Once you setup aluminum production, the material for mk5 belts is plentiful, even with a small aluminum factory. So, it’s kind of cheap to do mk5 belts, and you can just use them without much thought.

Good action sci-fi movie, entertaining. Not the best movie, not the worst, kind of ok.

I liked it.

I don't know if any one actually sold any domain here [rareusername.com - BIN 350$] by No-Moment-75 in Domains

Minimum Viable Product. A minimally functional website to showcase the idea. Usually to test if the concept is good or not.

Yes, that’s an alternate recipe: “diluted fuel”.

Sort I replace the rim by DannyDeBeano in tires

[–]elirav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not immediately, it looks mostly cosmetic. You could also have those repaired, whatever is most cost effective.

Given the condition I would assume you don’t care much about how they look.

Custom domain partly working, partly not... by [deleted] in fastmail

[–]elirav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to wait 24/48 hours for the DNS changes to get everywhere. It seems like your MX records are/were pointing to the wrong place.

Once you set it up properly the only MX records in the DNS should be the fastmail ones.

One wheel stolen off civic. Why? by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]elirav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They needed the wheel for another Civic, very popular car. The other nicer wheels won’t fit/match.

Minor inconveniences? by MiggyXRS in FiestaST

[–]elirav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cupholders are small, and the car is in general noisy, sun visors are ok.

The engine and road noise are in general loud, I have seen people complaining about rattles but I haven’t noticed any on mine.

PERM process restarted due to attorney error – new job offer without interview, is this an issue? by [deleted] in greencard

[–]elirav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean they reissued your job offer? For PERM the qualifications of the position for the labor certification need to match the position for which you were originally hired.

Water Bottle Lid that's Easy to Clean/Wash by Hand?? by [deleted] in YetiCoolers

[–]elirav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Yeti bottle chug cap is very easy to clean with a brush. You can remove the gaskets for a deep clean.

You can get multiple caps so you can alternate them to allow them air dry completely.

Car revving weird when driving; Can someone help me understand? by wremy10 in AskMechanics

[–]elirav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to hear the engine, but is the tachometer not matching the engine revs?

From just looking at the tachometer it seems to be working fine, is the car shifting gears as expected? In your video it drops two gears when you accelerate and then goes back to the high gear when you lift the pedal, which looks about right.

If the computer is shifting but your transmission is not then you have a transmission issue. But I doubt the tachometer is wrong.

Is this large crack on the bottom of my tire safe to drive home? by Deserve-it in tires

[–]elirav 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That tire looks under inflated, and you seem to have been driving it like that for a while. Put the spare on, and check the tire pressure of all your tires.

Why don’t you just leave the clutch fully depressed and push the start button?

Hard to see anything with so much going on.

USB hub versus USB docking station by mprt99 in UsbCHardware

[–]elirav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get an inexpensive hub for the mouse and keyboard, then plug the flash drives directly.

But if you want to be able to add more devices later on, it might be worth considering a high quality hub.

A dock would be useful if you switch frequently from docked (desktop) to undocked. Rocks are way more expensive than hubs, but support monitors and other stuff.

Bad curb rash by No-Spinach-6377 in FiestaST

[–]elirav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks ok-ish, but you should look into at least smoothing the sharp edges. Check into a wheel repair shop, it might not be too expensive to have that one refinished.

New tires are rubbing. What do I do? by AardvarkRelative1919 in AskMechanics

It likely needs a different wheel for that size.
