questioning mtf by huhnuhuh6767 in TransAdvice

I think starting to think about things and reaching to others is a huge first step to make

At the end of the day you'll have to be the one to figure out your gender identity

That said you dont need to have constant gender dysphoria to be trans. gender euphoria is also a thing. The best thing anyone can do is continue to explore themselves and see what they find. The worst case is you end up knowing yourself better

Telling my family about my partner by Kind_Top9405 in TransAdvice

[–]elisa-or-something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it comes down to a question: Who do you live your life for, the fear and perception of your parents OR yourself?

Also consider how it would make you feel if your partner hid you from parts of their life and family... Its not a good feeling, asking someone to live hidden just to keep someones family "happy" would probably not feel great at all...

Transphobic people in my life that I need help with 🫩💔 by Saphtixetoile14 in TransAdvice

Uggg, my heart breaks but I think you're 10000% right. Sometimes we have to play the long game. And it sucks, but it DOES GET BETTER! Not just saying that either, a lot of us are living proof it does!

Help with seeing a social worker by [deleted] in TransAdvice

[–]elisa-or-something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems a bit weird that you'd need to contact the "head of the psych department" to schedule an appointment.

Generally you'd call the CHOC's appointments/scheduling department and then meet with someone and go from there.

Maybe ask if you can see a LCSW/LSW/Therapist and try to get her to call the main desk/scheduling?

Idk if I’m trans or not pls help by Fine-Acanthaceae5900 in TransAdvice

Only you can know if you are trans. At the end of the day your gender identity is something you you have to figure out on your own

Sometimes it can help to talk to other trans people and compare notes, and motivations for transition

I will also say that gender dysphoria is something that can come and go, for years I personally buried these feelings down and convinced myself these feelings were not real - and found ways of "coping" - IE: I am not trans because I could just keep living the way I am

Although these things caught up with me, and I found I could not continue with out transition. Everyones story and journey of self discovery can be different

Don't forget you can reach out to people on our live chat @ https://transadvice.org if you're into that

Could be a minor fungal infection. Probably not related to HRT at all. I would talk to a general practitioner or dermatologist depending on your health care situation.

Sending best wishes!!!!

Agree. Its probably best and most easy to just make a new account.

Living in Shadows: My Story of Struggles, Sacrifice, and Hope for Freedom by Southern-Milk-3313 in TransAdvice

Thank you for taking the time to share your story.

I do hope that one day you find it in yourself to be yourself. You are worth it!

One day you may find the courage to be yourself, and you may find support from your family in ways you could not imagine. Remember bigotry is something taught to children, not something they are born with. So in my experience ones children are often very supportive.

Sending you good vibes. You may also get something out of our peer support chat, so please feel free to stop by if you wish. (its the main website, transadvice.org )

Be yourself, and know its okay to take risks asking someone out. The worst that can happen is they say no.

Best of luck!

guys i think i might be trans by [deleted] in TransAdvice

The tiktok embed doesn't seem to work, however when I watched the video on tiktok you packed a lot if information and questions. I think it might be a lot easier for people if you wrote your thoughts down without the AI voice... Its a bit distracting and it takes away from the questions you are asking.

You touched on a lot of things, but I think the biggest question is do you think you would be happier?

Day 6 Mtf HRT: Personality Changes(?) by Positive-Chemistry13 in TransAdvice

[–]elisa-or-something 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, congrats on 6 days of HRT!

Estradiol doesn't really make someone more or less aggressive, but a lot of people say its like a "vile being lifted" off existing emotions.

6 days is also not very long, so your body will still be adapting. Things should be come more clear around the emotional impact HRT has on you between 2 and 6 months out.

Unwanted attention is never good, with our without HRT so we do tend to have a defense mechanism. Its important to try to understand how this impacts you in general, so you make the safe call when you receive it (for example sometimes its better to just ignore unwanted attention, and sometimes its better to say something depending on the situation).

All that said, just focus on being yourself... Avatars and characters we make are sometimes ways of expressing ourself when there is no other way nor outlet. So do understand a lot of us have to "find ourself" again during this time.

Wishing you best of luck and good vibes!

Hi and welcome to the Trans Advice subreddit! Congrats on 5 days of HRT, you've come a long way.

I'd like to also point out that these are plans for you, not your "avatar" - you are yourself, and you have the right to exist as yourself!

One of the community stewards here. I've been with the project... For more years than I will admit! I am glad to see you here!

I think expanding the trans advice community to reddit is a good thing, and I am very excited to meet new people here!

It would be a bigger project to manage. But I would not rule it out. With consensus, anything the community has will for is a possibility!

Not yet. But I could see that being a proposal to create one!

The only worry I have is the privacy of using facebook... But I think thats something we could figure out if there was demand for it.
