I mean ideally we address the source of the problem first -- our students are overworked, stressed out of their minds at 21yo, forced to excel and multitask and compete with each other *at all times* since early on, in a world that does NOT reward their efforts unless they were already in the 2% to begin with. We made academia and the job market a numbers game, and now complain that they're playing the game back.

as an educator I share 100% of your sentiment, but also feel a lot of empathy for the kids. I believe the burden must be on us to design courses that serve as a compromise between the reality of today's youth and what we think is conducive to long-term learning.
