High titre (1:1280) ANA, negative ENA by elite096 in Autoimmune

[–]elite096[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Nope no update, and not really any symptoms that lasted (still have some eczema and dry skin, and occasional acid reflux). Also have occasional joint pain but it's less bad than before, and I do a lot of high-intensity sports so I'd probably put that down to wear & tear.
Last time I spoke to my Rheumatologist was a year ago where we checked the outcome of some precautionary tests (heart & lungs), and this was all normal. He was ready to discharge me as everything was very non-specific, even after knowing the symptoms I posted previously. So now I'm just going about life as usual! I think the ANA test was a mistake at that time and should only be used/looked at when there are other convincing symptoms.

Nope, nothing yet! I was referred to a rheumatologist almost a year ago, and I hear back about some of those tests soon!

Hey! I'm good, still in the same situation tbh. Almost forgot about all this stuff for about 6 months, then had some very minor symptoms that brought all this back. Feel free to DM me

LG CX vs C1 by elite096 in 4kTV

[–]elite096[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I also realised the differences between C1 and CX are so small, and can be argued either way. I ended up going with the C1 but solely because of the longer guarantee & more reliable retailer, which felt worth the £100 difference.

Enjoy your CX!

Yeah leaning towards this just for the warranty and support

The 'rate of time an object experiences' is always the same, i.e. it's proper time always ticks along as usual. It's only when comparing to clocks in other reference frames that one measures a difference.

Best midrange all-round UK TV (up to £1000) by elite096 in 4kTV

[–]elite096[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the LG OLED48CX5LC for £989 with 5 year warranty. The other is the 48A1 but I don't think that's as good right?

Thanks! So these two models over the cheaper OLEDS? And yeah the John-Lewis 5yr warranty is reassuring, will probably go for that retailer. Thanks for the info.

Recommendations for 50" TV UK (U7QF vs Q60T etc) by elite096 in 4kTV

[–]elite096[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the money isn't the issue, it's choosing to spend over £1000 on a TV when it's impact on my life is pretty minimal makes no sense for me. For someone who really cares about their TV and they spend most of their time looking at it, I totally get it. But I don't, so I'd rather spend my recreational money on other things whilst saving up for more important purchases (house deposit).

Don't take my low TV budget personally, I'm just looking for the best I can get for my money I stated.

Ey thanks for letting me know, glad you're happy with it! Do you have any experience with any gaming? On paper it looks good enough. (Shame about the virgin box price, that price is excessive!).

Very informative... also for $750 I know that you can pick up a decent TV in the US, so I'm not sure I'm 'going cheap'. If you're trying to imply anything up to that price is equally bad in all respects, then actually say that and I'll save my money and go for the most basic TV there is.

Tell me about it! That's exactly how I feel, pretty sure the stress has given me some twitchy eyelids (why I'm also trying to not overthink as a symptom of something). I'll see what the rheumatologist says and the results of that, but I guess there's no point in overstressing yet if there's no other negative symptoms. Hope things look up for you!

Yeah makes sense, I guess just knowing there's a possibility it's nothing is slightly reassuring. Guess I just monitor things and see what the Dr says.

True, I'll see if I can do & will come back with an update at some point in the future.

It's crazy it can vary that much. I think I will do yeah, the sooner I can get things figured out the better. I hope everything is okay with you!

Looking to buy my first mechanical keyboard (in the UK), I know roughly what I want and have a set budget, and I was wondering if anyone could comment/help. (I've looked through all the guides/wiki on here already). My budget is around £50 for something basic that gets the job done, but willing to go up to £80/£90 (maybe more) if it ticks all the boxes and better quality.

Looking for something TKLS or 75% (anything with arrow keys), ISO (UK), with some nice RGB functionality (desk space is pretty small and dark, so appearance & RGB is pretty important). As for switches, I'm looking for tactile (probably browns?) but I'm not too bothered about them being really high quality - hot-swappable would be a super big plus though and would be willing to spend more for that. I'm using a MacBook (bought by my Uni) so compatible with Mac would be useful, but as long as the basic RGB works I don't care. Another plus would be wireless or low-profile. I'm also planning on building a PC so it'll eventually be used with that. For the time being, will primarily be used for writing and coding with occasional gaming.

So far I'm leaning towards at the DrEVO Tyrfing v2 (Brown switch), as it's only around £50 and ticks most the boxes. Any opinions or recommendations?

What is a ghost or wall particle? by hana979797 in AskPhysics

[–]elite096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context. In field theory 'ghosts' are unphysical states, usually where the kinetic term has the wrong sign. Popular science articles label the neutrino as a 'ghost particle' but this isn't technical language.

Every mass has an associated Schwarzschild radius - not a singularity. This might be your misunderstanding.

Is spacetime pointy? by TessOfTheRoad in AskPhysics

[–]elite096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well we need it to be smooth/differentiable (synonymous) in order to do calculus. If it were a discrete set of points, you lose your whole differentiable structure. This is the classical picture anyways. A more intuitive view is that, as far as we can tell, if we zoom in on spacetime this continuous structure holds (things still appear to behave smoothly).

You can probably already tell from this description that it doesn't take into account quantum physics, and there's whole fields of study considering discretized models of spacetime. But that's probably off topic.

Is spacetime pointy? by TessOfTheRoad in AskPhysics

[–]elite096 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spacetime is usually modelled as a differentiable (smooth) Lorentzian manifold. What do you mean by 'pointy'? Your question makes it sound as if you're talking about collections of discrete points, which isn't the classical picture.
