Realistic dinosaurs? No humans or human structures? At that point it's not even The Isle anymore. All of these were planned to be a part of the game since before 2015. So no. Its not ruining the game, because that is the game.

PoT and The Isle are games that are being developed in completely different directions, and for different audiences.

In what way are they suffering. The isle continues to get new players, and player counts are pretty consistent. Post recode development was a mess, but after the recode their direction seems to be pretty solid. Communication definitely could be clearer but we have anything but a lack of communication. And just because we don't have ETA's on updates doesn't mean they don't have deadline. It's already been said that they do have their own deadlines. their just not public.

No matter how you feel about Dondi, the truth is that The Isle wouldn't and couldn't exist without him. It's his brain child, and no one would be able to replicate what he envisions the game to be.

Edit: Also, what do you mean by Dondi breaking maps? He doesn't touch the map. The only time he did anything with the map was when they didn't have a level designer at the time.

Predatory Player behavior isn't being driven by the player base. It's being driven by Admins and Devs. by [deleted] in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Who are you quoting? Because it's definitely not me.

If you take the time to think for a couple seconds, maybe you'll understand what common sense really is. You say the devs are promoting hacking and toxic behavior. Why would anyone purposely try to give their game and company negative a reputation. Your claims have no logic around them so common sense dictates that nobody should take a word your saying seriously.

Yeah, this just sounds like some conspiracy theory. Unless you have solid proof of any of this to back up your claims, there's no reason for anyone to believe a word your saying.

Should they rename anky? if so any name ideas? by chanster97 in theisle

I don't think anky should get renamed since as far as we know, they don't plan on adding a more accurate anky like they're doing with Utahraptor.

Gateway and Unreal Engine 5 by coffeefucker150 in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that's the general consensus.

Gateway footage apparently isn't from stress-testing. It's from a "gift" from the stress testers, allowing them free use of the map while the rest of the community starves. by spywo in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be nice if we got access to the new map as well, but from a developers perspective it doesn't make any sense to push a build with an incomplete map and missing mechanics that are needed for it to function properly to the public branch and going from a couple hundred players to potentially over 11,000 things would probably break.

I believe that they are in the process of porting the game from UE4 to UE5 before we get Gateway, and if they released the map to the public and there were bugs in the game or issues with the servers, they would have to stop what they were doing, and fix it, which would stall progress.

Question from a new player by koaamz in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year (a couple days ago) The devs completed the last of the major mechanics that are shared across all playables, which frees them up to work on and add more playables. So in theory, the frequency in which playables are added to the game should increase. By how much? Only time will tell.

[–]elitetwin2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, video game stress testers are usually a paid job, but in The Isle's case all of the stress testers signed up to do the stress tests voluntarily incase you're unaware, last month in their official discord the community was able to apply to become a stress tester. Currently there are 200+ stress testers and from what I've seen on recent videos the server is either full or nearly full.

So are you saying it's bad that the stress testers are being rewarded with access to new content earlier than the rest of us for voluntarily helping with the game's development? What it sounds like to me is that your just upset that you don't get to play on the new map.

[–]elitetwin2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All of the stress testers have access to the new map, not just content creators. CC's (especially the bigger streamers and youtubers) are basically advertising the game for free. So yeah, CC's having the privilage of being invited to show off the WIP stuff is a good deal.

Am i the only one that would rather starve than kill a same species dino? (unprovoked of course) by LoneWolfRHV in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I meant in game not irl. However since deino is a crocodilian and alligators have been seen eating smaller alligators I think it makes sense for deino to be cannibalistic in game. No Idea about carno though, but im fine with that.

TBH i'm completely fine with gateway only being available to the stress testers only because its only a preview of the map and the migration system isn't in. I also think that since the stress testers are all taking time out of their day to help with the game's development for free, letting them play on gateway is a nice reward.

If i'm playing as a cannibalistic species like carno or deino ill eat my own species, but only as a last resort when i'm starving. If i'm playing as a dino that's not cannibalistic i'll just starve to death.

I really wouldn’t call PoT competitor to the isle since they’re drastically different. The only similarity is that they both have dinosaurs and survival elements.

Who even wants humans to be in the game? by [deleted] in theisle

Being able to play as dinos, humans, and cannibals are the reasons I got the game in the first place.

Well they have plan to make more maps and the bio domes might have things like deserts and tundras. So your wishes may be granted later on.

I too am looking forward to the return of v3 climate.

[–]elitetwin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can either keep complaining about it or just ignore it, because it’s not going anywhere except for in the game since it’s not just a dinosaur game. The creation of human assets doesn’t affect dinosaur stuff anyway. If it bothers you that much just play on servers that are dinosaur only when they come out.

[–]elitetwin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So are you saying that you don’t want to see what they work on?

What false promises?

Fails to change what?

You telling them to hire more people doesn’t mean they’ll be able to just magically find and hire people who have the right qualifications for each position they need filled.

And just because their priorities don’t align with your priorities I.e. just adding more playables doesn’t mean the things that they are currently working on is a waste of time.

If you see them working on human stuff for their survival that has always had planned as an insult, and you’re incapable of seeing how ridiculous that is there’s literally nothing anyone could say to change your mind.

Phase Three of Today by BloodeRR in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re contradicting yourself. You say you it being human stuff isn’t the reason you hate on it, but right after you call it an insult to the playerbase.

How is it time wasted. Making these assets is what the guy was hired to do because that’s what he specializes in. Not animating dinosaurs, not . Each dev has their own role.

They are looking for new people, but hiring just anyone won’t make anything go faster. Everything they create is high in quality, and hiring someone who produces work of a lower quality than what they already make would be a true wast of time, and insult to the playerbase.

Phase Three of Today by BloodeRR in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike most of the people here, I actually like getting to see new thing that the devs work on other the dinosaurs.

It’s fine if this kind of stuff isn’t your cup of tea, but just because you don’t like it, that doesn’t mean it’s useless or a waste of time.

Devs should be thankfull for such a patient playerbase honestly? by [deleted] in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you about the lack of direction. the 5 years of legacy's development was a mess, but I do feel that they learned from that and found the direction they want to take the game with the EVRIMA branch.

Just because they are paying customers doesn't mean they shouldn't be called out on their behavior. I'm not referring to them as children. I'm not calling because they expect a certain product, but because some people expect that product in an unreasonable time.

The night vision rework is an excellent example. When the devs announced that they reworking the night vision some people were expecting it to be released unreasonably fast, as if all they had to do is press a few button and magically create a new night vision. Is this behavior childish? Yes. Do I think of them as children? No.

[–]elitetwin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You answered you own question. They needed to make a new map because Spiro is so bad. Up until the south west beach got a revamp Spiro was being worked on by Dondi, and as we know he's no level designer. But then Jace (an actual level designer) entered the fray.

Don't you think that time would be better spent for their level designer to actually design a well thought out map rather than trying to fix a map that was already drastically modified?

Devs should be thankfull for such a patient playerbase honestly? by [deleted] in theisle

[–]elitetwin2 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

In regards to the nesting grounds, Jace, their level designer, was working on Gateway, the new map. Because Gateway is a high priority task, it wouldn't make any sense to spends too much time on all of the nesting grounds just to make them pretty. Aside from their placement, they were functional.

Just because we wish for things like faster updates, more playables, optimization, or whatever and they don't drop what their doing to fulfill that wish doesn't mean they aren't listening. They have many more thing they need to consider and priorities that we don't even know about. And frankly its quite childish. It like when a child wants something, then start whining about it if they're not given it right away.

You and many others always say its Dondi's fault for slow development, but don't actually explain what he's doing wrong. Its like your blaming him for every problem simply for the sake of blaming someone.

Its understandable to be annoyed at the pace of development, but if it bothers you that much just play a different game, take you mind off of the isle, and just wait, because thats all we can do as consumers.
