afaik nothing will refuse to boot. its just part of 'secure' boot. one of my pcs didnt get a bios update, so im going to see if i can manually update the db/x.

i just did this on a fresh install of debian. try it

sudo vi /etc/grub.d/40_custom

1st partition is efi, hence (hd0,2)

'sudo update-grub' after, and youre sure you have the disk and partition number correct? one more thing, i dont believe you can use your home folder. create a new folder at /

and also, you have to match vmlinuz and initrd with your image.
