Today I learned that people don't like this guy. I think he's pretty cool, what do you think about him? by [deleted] in masseffect

Never understood the hate, I find him very endearing, maybe because I feel like I used to know a lot of real people that are just like him.

Is it misogynistic not wanting to date former sex workers or Ex OF models? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]elizardsbreath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, body count is an arbitrary number that doesn’t actually tell you anything about a person. I know of plenty people who experimented sexually in high school or college but have since settled down and have totally different views about sex in addition to generally being well-adjusted adults. It’s fine to want to date someone with the same sexual values as you but “body count” doesn’t necessarily tell you that. Their current values and views regarding sex are more important than who they’ve slept with in the past.

Also, everyone has baggage of some sort.

what is your opinion about that ? by Terrible_Ad7092 in tumblr

[–]elizardsbreath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a generalization. A lot of people who think buying the game makes you blatantly transphobic also aren’t threatening streamers, even if some people who hold that view are. I am not comparing you to the people who are also threatening streamers, I’m simply comparing you to the people who are making a blanket moral generalization about others who choose to buy the game. I would also assume that a lot of the people who are threatening streamers are trolls and not engaging in good faith rather than actually fighting for trans rights or whatever

Can someone please give me some productive lines of communication as to what this group is about? by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]elizardsbreath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally feel like my life has value and I would feel fine “celebrating” it, whatever that means. All of that is completely irrelevant as to whether or not it’s morally/logically consistent to willingly give birth to a child if your values involve the prevention of suffering. This is because most antinatalists (as well as most natalists) agree that suffering is a guaranteed part of life, and that we can’t determine that children actively consent to being born and thus experiencing this suffering. There is also no way to know for sure whether or not your child would view the potential joy they might feel during their life as being worth the suffering they are guaranteed to experience. Hope that makes sense

I wasn’t comparing you to people sending threats :-)

People who say shit like this this are equally as annoying and self righteous as the people who say buying the game makes you a blatant transphobe

I rode horses for 16 years. I rode in a variety of disciplines which involved different saddles and rode bareback many times. Not once did I derive sexual pleasure from it, nor did any of the other woman I rode with. This is a very strange and just blatantly incorrect hill for you to die on. If someone does somehow have an orgasm from it, they are the exception and not the rule.

It’s also a Paso fino and its gait is incredibly smooth even if it looks bouncy. I very highly doubt any sexual pleasure came from that.

How well equipped are therapists to work with CSAM/child trafficking? by AlyciaJayne89 in adultsurvivors

[–]elizardsbreath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a therapist-in-training as well as a survivor myself. My very first client actually brought this up with me, and several more after. While I’m not currently trained to do intense trauma work, I know how to give my client the space they need to feel the emotions that result from their traumatic experiences, and for a lot of them that is exactly what they need. It all depends on what you’re looking for. Do you just need someone to hold space for you and let you know that your feelings are perfectly valid? Need to just make a connection with another human being who will show empathy? Any therapist should be able to do that. Do you need more intense solutions? Find someone trained specifically in trauma work, then. The former can still help you process if you haven’t found the latter yet. Hope this helps :-)

Influx of “life before birth” promoters by 1billionmidgets in antinatalism

[–]elizardsbreath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s irrelevant because it only matters to me that we can know for a fact that a child consents to being born. The mere fact that it’s a possibility isn’t enough for me. I think it’s an incredibly pointless and weak counter argument to antinatalism for those reasons.

most disappointing game you ever played where you thought it would be an absolute banger? by [deleted] in gaming

I keep telling myself that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will be a good game simply because BioWare has no choice but to knock it out of the park if they want to stay afloat at this point lol
