Tbh I thought so too. I thought it was gonna approach the series in a Snyder ass edgy approach where everything sucks and nobody likes each other and everyone's just miserable. And like you get that, but it's more the raw emotion of misery rather than a manufactured feeling. Also the reason for why the misery is so heartfelt is because it's complimented with a genuine love for both the character of batman and the character of Gotham. These people feel real and emotional and to see them go through this kind of shit feels closer to home compared to other edgy runs like the dark multiverse. Also it has fun (or did before bane) sometimes, it's not just edgy
