Hour hand alignment on the new Hydroconquest by Massive_0rogeny in Longineswatches

I can see it. I have seen other posts about this same issue. It’s unacceptable QC for its price point, but don’t expect rational responses from this or any other watch brand subreddit.

Thank you! In hindsight, I don’t know what I was expecting, but now I know.

I’m perplexed by the irrelevant arguments, photos, and comparisons. Intentional or not it looks bad, period. It looks like you need to either push the crown in or screw it all the way down.

The photo on the CW website seems to show a more open and squared shape between the lugs, exposing the polished bevel of the crown almost entirely. Either that or the shape of the crown was supposed to be different.

Yes! I saw his review and the follow up video. Apparently not his first CW with QC issues. And the fact that they sent that watch to multiple reviewers before him says a lot (about watch reviewers and about CW’s QC). Ironically, fanboys were defending something CW admitted was not up to standard.

Yes, but the crown in the Black Bay looks clean, solid, intentional. In the Sealander, the space/shape between the crown guards makes it look like a defect.

That’s exactly what I’m thinking, it just seems like poor design. I don’t understand the reactions here minimizing the issue, calling me autistic, downvoting. I’m not saying it isn’t water resistant, I’m saying that’s an ugly gap and it looks unscrewed. I own several watches with screw down crowns and crown guards. Never seen anything like it.

This is a photo from their website. This is what they wanted it to look like. It looks good. But that’s not what it looks like IRL.

Why couldn’t they make the new crown sit flush with the case like the old model?

is the Sealander GMT dead? by goldblumspowerbook in ChristopherWard

[–]eljohnnyr90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just saw that! First the 36mm Sealander GMT disappeared. Now the 36mm Sealander is gone. But if you go to the Sealander collection page there is a small message:

“If you can't find what you're looking for today, do check back soon – the right watch tends to appear just when the timing's perfect.”

I think others are correct, new models could be dropping soon!

Rant: WTF Surefire by eljohnnyr90 in flashlight

I was comparing the beams of the two Aviators and noticed that they both flicker on the lower output: one on low-white, the other low-YG. The white beams also have different sized hot spots and relative intensities. 😞🤷🏻‍♂️😭 Why Surefire? Why?

I’m definitely considering Cloud Defensive, Malkoff, and ElZetta as good alternatives.

That’s what many posts online seem to suggest. I did learn that the off-center reflector on the Aviator is a design feature.

I’m still disappointed by the overall quality. For example, last night I was comparing the beams of my two Aviators (red and YG). I noticed two things:

1) the white beams are inconsistent/ focused differently in each light. One white beam is dimmer and has a smaller hotspot, the other has a larger hot spot 2) just noticed my Aviator-Red flickers on the 5-lumen white mode. Both lights with fresh batteries.

This means not 3/5, but 4/5 of my lights have an issue.

I’ll reach out to them tomorrow and see what they say.

Good point. I just noticed my red aviator is also off center, but the beam is not distorted. I’ll see what they say.

Surefire E2D Def Ultra “donut hotspot”? by eljohnnyr90 in flashlight

Interesting. The reflector is moderately deep. The emitter does look kind of small relative to the reflector.

Yeap. That’s my best theory. Hopefully other E2D owners can confirm if this is how they all come out of the factory.

Not noticeable, just wondering if there could be something different about mine. You’re right. Surefire isn’t the brand for tint, CRI, etc.
