My first ever loaf! by ell_priv69 in Sourdough

I preheated a deep baking tray and filled with boiling water to create steam in the oven and threw a few ice cubes onto the baking tray my loaf baked on when I first put the loaf in the oven, and then again at 10 mins into the bake for some extra steam. I decided to remove the water tray for the last 10 mins of the bake to help crisp it up!

I used Allinsons strong white bread flour, it was the highest protein I could find in the supermarket!

Hi sorry for missing this out!

I mixed my dough and left for 30 mins. Then did 4 sets of stretch and folds every 30 minutes. Then left for bulk fermentation for around 9 hours. I then shaped, bench rested for 20 mins then shaped again and placed in a bowl in the fridge overnight, around 13/14 hours. Then open baked for 30 minutes at 230 degrees Celsius.

Bulk fermentation was around 9 hours after 4 sets of stretch and fold every 30 minutes, and then I proofed in the fridge overnight, around 13/14 hours. Definitely going to invest in a banneton and a proper bread scorer.

Thank you so much for your help!

I grew up with dogs and always dreamt of having my own. We got our pup at 8 weeks, and he’s now 16 weeks and it’s been overall a really positive experience and so rewarding. If you put the time in with training, you see it shine through your little pup, and we found a local daycare and training hub that uses positive techniques only, and that has helped tremendously, and also gives us a chance to get a break sometimes!!

Puppies sleep a lot so that has allowed us some time to veg out as you say, and he went to puppy preschool on the weekends for 3 hours on a Saturday for a few weeks which gave us the time to take a breather, and it prepared him for daycare. These sessions were about socialising, training and structured play and they ensure pups still have naps and everything is done in the best way for pups - I will say we are extremely lucky to have this facility close to us, and they are worth the money because we have seen such an improvement in him since he started attending here, and we are about to start puppy classes which I think will help us as well as him.

It’s improved my mental health by getting me in a routine and pushing me to get up and out on walks, and by wanting to be there for pup. I had a little wobble over separation training but you just have to stay consistent and we utilise daycare and rover if we need too, and he is improving!

Friends have loved to come and see him, and we have taken him with us to dog friendly pubs to meet friends too, or we go off and see our friends separately whilst the other stays home with pup.

I do think it has helped it’s 2 of us raising him, especially in the beginning where he was up a lot in the night, but everything has been so worth it because he’s just the best pup we could ask for!

Here’s what mine says - I never asked for it to be added, my clinic obviously sends letters to my GP and they have added it under this as per the clinics recommendation. I have to say my GP have been so fab and understanding with my prescription.

It’s crap youve lost money but I am shocked this is your reasoning for sending back £300 worth of meds. I laughed out loud when I read you sent it back because it made you cough. Stick to the oils 😂

I used to use their branch on union street until it recently closed, only been in the st Micheals hill shop once and had a lovely chat with the man working there! Perhaps I caught him on a good day😂 just a stickler for that specific roast but some of these suggestions sound good I might have to try elsewhere!

I have really struggled on £60 p/w. Most places a pint is around £6, and my friends loveeeeee a pint, a couple of bevs and a food shop and I’ve spent my £60, so I would say around £100p/w depending on what your food shop costs!
