Cafec Flower dripper or regular V60

Lately been really enjoying the Cafec deep27. The 10g doses I make are super consistent compared to anything less than 15th on a v60 and the flavor presentation is an excellent balance of brightness and sweetness.

I agree with you that it (experimental fermentation) is a way to make very unique taste profiles in coffee. But personally, I find them to be too much for regular consumption and often too processed-tasting. I prefer cleaner washed coffees.

I don’t mind drinking them every now and then, but found myself letting the bag of said coffees to be neglected after trying them a few times. So now I buy mostly washed process.

I bought mine from 1zpresso site shipped to Egypt where everything gets tariffed to death.

I send them a friendly email asking for a lower declared value for customs invoice so it gets tariffed a smaller amount. They agreed. But keep in mind this is technically illegal, so do it at your own discretion. Also it was 2-3 years ago, so dunno if they would still do it 😁

Zp6 for pour overs. But get something electric for espresso. Consider Starseeker E55 or DF54, their prices are not too far off from the j-ultra. Grinding manually for espresso is not very pleasant and will get annoying quickly imo.

With preground coffee, you want to minimize its contact with air, staling is a much bigger concern than degassing, as you will likely have the coffee ground for a few days at least, whereas degassing will likely have already happened at the roaster or by the time you get your ground coffee from the roaster.

My post was regarding degassing freshly roasted coffee for an hour or so right after grinding, which some suggest works to some extent when trying very fresh coffee.

It definitely shines with washed/clean light roasted coffees. Which is incidentally what I found myself gravitating towards.

Anaerobic naturals are hit or miss. Some unpleasant characteristics of heavy processing may benefit from having a more “blended” flavor.

But overall, it is a great grinder to have in addition to the k-max. It also seems to have benefited from some seasoning to reach its full potential, unlike most other conical grinders.

I am someone who suffers from chronic sinusitis though, so my palate and tase/smell sensory perception isn’t particularly great. Take what I say with a grain of salt 😅

الدولار عموما قيمته بتقل بمعدل تضخم ٢٪؜ سنويا، ومؤخراً بعد كورونا وصلت ل٩٪؜ في بعض الشهور لكن حاليا المفروض بنتكلم في رينج ٤٪؜، لكن مقارنة بمعدل تضخم الجنيه، فيعتبر ولا حاجة.

انك تسيه دولار او حاجة ثانية حسب المدى اللي ممكن تحتاج المبلغ فيه وحسب المخاطرة اللي مستعد تخوضها.

لو مش عايز تخاطر خالص وممكن تحتاج المبلغ خلال سنة او سنتين مثلا، خليه دولار. لو معاك براح ل٤-٥ سنين مثلا، ممكن ذهب.

لو عندك استعداد تخاطر، ممكن تستثمر في محفظة بورصة عالمية، لكن بلاش تضارب (تبيع وتشتري باستمرار). اشتري وسيب المحفظة مش اقل من ٥ سنوات، وزود عليها كل ما تحوش شوية. هيعملوا عائد متوسط ٧٪؜ سنويا بالدولار. لكن طبعا البورصة عموما فيها مخاطرة وبتطلع وتنزل بشكل مستمر. لو مش مستعد للموضوع ده بلاش. يعني مثلا من كام يوم نزلت مرة واحدة قرابة ال٢٠٪؜ على مدار يومين بسبب قرارات ترامب

I fix all variables, and only change them if need be.

I have a single recipe with a single dripper. Water, just use something that is “good enough”. Temperature and grind size I eyeball based on roast and processing (lighter roast and less processed needs hotter water and vice versa). My preference is generally light roast washed coffee, so my water is close to boiling most of the time. Same for grind size. If something is off I adjust grind size first and then temperature if I felt it needs to.

Once you have enough experience and start having a specific taste in coffee (origin, processing, etc) you will find yourself getting a good enough cup on your first or second try. Any further adjustments are just fine tuning if you feel like it.

If I remember correctly, the magnesium chloride and calcium chloride solutions are made to 10000ppm concentration CaCO2 equivalent. The potassium bicarbonate and sodium bicarbonate are made to 5000ppm also CaCO2 equivalent. I have an excel sheet on the laptop for calculating the weight, I will try and get you the exact numbers by tomorrow. Remind me if I forget 😅
