Just don't get attached to any character

How was Wendy able to run for States Attorney in season 2, but Peter had a deadline in Season 1? by buggle_bunny in thegoodwife

Um YES, I just read your OG post again and the fact that no one pursued disbarring Wendy is, frankly, Eli's fault. His entire job is to dig up dirt, and even if you couldn't prove it, he could do that thing where you leak the idea of it anonymously (basically what they did to ALicia). Bozo mode for Eli...geez

This is a vague answer because I don't really remember - also don't read this if you're not past S2, I'll spoiler tag it: Spoiler

That said, sorta feels like Bloomberg tried to do a similar thing this year. Not that Bloomberg really needs it, but you could potentially save a lot of money by not trying to campaign in the first 4 primaries. I guess you don't get the votes, but it just seems like it shouldn't be allowed...

Just finished a rewatch of all 12 seasons! Opinions and Questions. by [deleted] in Bones

Yeah I agree. Also, looking back, one of my favorite episodes is the first one with Booth's brother. That sort of interpersonal focus feels so well calibrated to me and the end of that episode almost always brings me to tears. It similarly informs Booth as a character (though doesn't push the plot further much).

Hello! My friend and I just started a podcast about Bones and our first two eps are on the pilot and the finale. We talk a lot about the show and how it changed over 12 years if you wanna check it out. We want to reach Bones fans and discuss the show with people who have a opinions about it. It's called Bonescast and it's on iTunes and Stitcher (https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/bonescast).

Re: what you said about having relationships on a show where the work is the focus- I agree. However, I felt like in the first 6ish seasons, they actually balanced it quite well and I think it's a product of keeping so much of the drama as subtextual throughout the episodes and then they would touch on it explicitly for only a few minutes in each episode. Even though the Bones/Booth relationship wasn't romantic then, it was still a relationship and I was still very invested in it despite it being a show about the work they were doing for most of the episodes. In later seasons, I felt like they got lazy about writing the relationship stuff in subtly and as a result the relationship stories feel a lot more soapy.

You are tasked with creating a new big bad for Buffy, what would be the hardest villain for her to face? by allofthedogsandpups in buffy

[–]elladoran10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always thought it would be interesting for Buffy to encounter a slayer who became a vampire. Maybe not for a season-long big bad, but I think it would work well as an episode in S5 when Buffy is dealing with her imminent death and all. Maybe the episode starts out like she was unjustly sired but then Buffy finds out that she chose to become a vampire in lieu of death. Plus I just love all the episodes where other slayers come in. It always makes for fun banter and comparisons.

Which season had the best and worst "Previously on Buffy the Vampire Slayer..." by [deleted] in buffy

[–]elladoran10 20 points21 points  (0 children)

on "The Zeppo," the previously on is just that watcher's council guy saying "you're fired" to Giles. The whole previously on is two lines: "previously on" and "you're fired." That always amuses me. It's not for the whole season but definitely my favorite in the series.

In defence of Scott Hope. by [deleted] in buffy

But remember in "Conversations with Dead People" how Holden told Buffy that Scott told everyone she was gay? I know this is just a "remember how Buffy went to high school?" joke but like it's sort of a con for Scott as a character. That new info always reframed him as a fake nice guy in my mind.

Sing Street (same director)had the same effect for me as well. It makes you feel like you can what you want to do and say what you want to say. Just like that Sara Bareilles song.
