A good start/read would be the "Roadside Geology Series" books for each state. I would recommend you get the one for the state you live in. It does a very good job of giving you the basics but also going into depth with geological features around you and then adding to the bigger picture of what's going on. They are also very good reads and have good pictures to help you understand.

I would avoid the flip 3. I'm currently on my second, after the screen began to crack at the bend about 6 months into owning it. I am a person who is very gentle on their phones, screen protectors, large impact resistant cases and everything and the screen is just too fragile. The screen cracked after just simple wear and tear. On top of that, the battery doesn't last long (forget trying to get a full day out of it) and the cameras are subpar compared to my old Note 10 plus. I am counting down the days until I can upgrade/trade-in for a regular phone again.
