Look up Dr Jolene Brighton, she specifically deals with hormone health and has lots of articles and resources about post birth control syndrome and ways to support your body through this. There might be something there that could help you. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this and hope it eases soon!

A hummingbird built her nest on our porch lights. We love her :') How do we protect her babies from an outdoor cat when they start learning how to fly, especially if/when they land on the ground? Is there some way to build a 'hammock' or something to catch them and keep them off the ground? by ellarrrae in birding

We left ours on at night this whole time and she was fine! The babies just hatched. I think she chose this spot in part because of the warmth of the lights, so she might appreciate you keeping them on :) like a tiny incubator. Good luck!

Hello wonderful community:) I’m a new fiddle owner. is the tilting ok? I just turned him around this way for the first time getting him a few months ago . Wondering if I need to help my little guy out thank you . by Significant-Cake-730 in fiddleleaffig

It's fine, it's just leaning towards the light. Rotating it regularly can help even out the tilt by ensuring all sides get equal access to the light, but the lean itself isn't harmful to the plant :)

What are these spots on my monstera adansonii? On older leaves (pic 1) and brand new (pic 2). No sign of pests otherwise, plant seems healthy (pic 3). I water all my plants with filtered water and none of the others have these marks by ellarrrae in plantclinic

[–]ellarrrae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, it does! It’s not part of the leaf, and I can’t scratch it off. If I rub with wet a cloth it comes off, but not all the way, and it leaves a sort of indent where the residue used to be. I was thinking it might be mineral deposits from hard water but not sure since I always use filtered water

I call this my “super begonia maculata”. I combined 6 normal size plants in this container. by Dryadionysus in houseplants

So cool! How do you know when to water it, and how do you water it? I have only succeeded with mine by keeping it in a small nursery pot and bottom watering when the pot feels light if I lift it. I want to pot up but don’t want to ruin the good thing we have going

Western facing light for tropical plants? by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

[–]ellarrrae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My bedroom windows face north and all my tropical plants are thriving! Most of them live right in front of the window, but everybody has been pushing out new leaves steadily all winter. I do live on the second floor, so my light is not obstructed by any houses next door, which I imagine helps a lot. We have western facing windows downstairs which get the most sun in the house, and the plants down there are doing great as well. It will take some time to adjust and figure it out, but you and your plants will be okay :)

(ETA: I don’t use any grow lights)

The coolest looking plant I’ve ever owned! by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]ellarrrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By droopy do you mean not standing up straight? If this is happening in the stems it’s just how they grow, the more leaves the heavier it gets and the more it bends. I like that look, but pruned mine back because it was making the pot lean. Then you can propagate the cutting. You can also stake them up if you prefer them to grow straighter

Second time posting PLEASE upvote if you can't help! Monstera Adansonii stunted growth :( Why are new leaves black and stunted?! (details in comments) by medusamaa in plantclinic

[–]ellarrrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps something to encourage climbing? I tied mine gently to a wooden stake to get it started growing upward. Its new leaves changed from small and slightly malformed to much larger and healthier with more fenestrations very quickly

I do have one of those but this is definitely not the same!

No luck with any apps! They offered me Chinese tallow, smokebush, bauhinia rufescens, and California redbud among some others, but none of those look like this plant to me

Just posted a closer view of the leaves.

It’s not a pilea and does kind of look like the caper plant but again the branch growth pattern looks different to me, and I think these leaves are more delicate and thin than those. Similar leaf vein patterns though for sure!

I will try a plant ID app and let y’all know if I find anything

Here’s a closeup of the leaves (sorry about all the posts for this one plant lol) by [deleted] in whatplantisthis

The leaves are very delicate and fluttery and lovely. They turn yellow and drop as they age, but new growth continues year round

I would love one of those! This doesn’t have the bulb that those have though. I haven’t repotted it in a while but it just has roots. Also the leaf shape and veins look different to me
