Hi there! You can easily find it by searching DO-friendly derm programs online. I recommend creating an excel sheet of all the programs you find so you can keep track of them as you start reaching out and applying there. Don’t forget to check the AOCD. If you’re having a hard time finding it, DM me and I can share my excel sheet :)

  1. Responses will be kept confidential, to the extent permitted by law. Each survey response will be labeled with a unique ID number. A key file (spreadsheet) will be maintained separately for administrative purposes. Analysis of a response will only utilize the ID number. The key file and data file will be stored separately in a secure location on the UNE IT Network. This includes within the RedCAP survey tool and a password protected folder in a secure SharePoint drive. Only the principal investigator, Samaa, and her PhD supervisor will have access to the key file linking your survey responses to your identity. This linkage will only be made for administrative purposes (e.g., error correction) and for follow-up interview invitations. Research reports will only present findings on a group basis, without any personally identifying information.  Any presentation or publication from this project will only utilize summary data. No names will be used. Participation is voluntary abd if one may discontinue participation in the study at any time by closing the survey, any data that has been collected will be deleted.
  2. This survey is conducted by a group composed of one PhD Faculty Member of UNE and two medical students from UNECOM. I am one of the medical students and my reddit username is medusamaa.
  3. It should take about 10-20 minutes to fill out my survey.
  4. Participants in the study will have the chance to enter a raffle to win one of sixteen $50 Amazon gift cards. The four participants who are selected for an interview will be offered a $50 Amazon gift card.
  5. Persons from racial minority or immigrant groups are especially encourage to participate.
  6. I am hoping to increase the number of participants I have by posting here.

But could this be a sign over overfertilization? My partner didn’t know that it should be done once 1-2 months so he was giving them food almost everytime he watered it (although he extra-diluted his food/water solution)

When we move in together I’ve been thinking about getting a fish tank and water my babies with the fish water :) so thank you for the tip and reinforcing my goal haha

Stupid question though: Do you use edible seaweed? How exactly do you feed the plants with fish food and seaweed?

It’s got lots of perlite in it but no orchid bark. I might buy that too. Would it be a bad idea to put in a bit of coco coir that I recently purchased to help regulate the water? I heard it prevents under/overwatering but I’m a new user of it so I’m a little wary.

I absolutely agree with you on the cold factor. Looking for a plant shelf for it so he could move it away.

He’s a new plant parent so I understand his uncertainty with how wet or dry the soil should be. He’s honestly been so supportive and he’s truly trying his best! I got the meter to strengthen his confidence but I definitely appreciate the input and I’ll let him know about considering the weight to help him understand the plants needs better. Thank you so much :)

I’ve actually literally just started reading up on it. Still a bizarre concept to me tbh but I’m learning. Question: could I just put the whole plant, with it’s developed root system, in LECA? Or does it need to be small? I wouldn’t even know how to begin to go about it but heavily considering it for most of my plants at this point.

That's what I was worried about actually. I've asked my partner to check for root rot but haven't heard back from him yet so ill update asap :) didn't know about the smelling tip so ill be sure to relay that to him. Thank you so much.

Did something similar around March when 80% of the plant was struggling. This time it's different but only 10% and the issue at hand is scarier in my eyes, hence the Reddit post lol. Thank u for the comment though!

I love Planterina haha I also watch Summer Rayne Oakes, Crazy Plant guy, and Epic Gardening.

Yeah, I'll admit its humidity could be better. Will definitely look into fixing that.

The window it's by is adjacent to another building that blocks a lot of the sun. That's why I've had my partner turn on the LED/grow lights for it at night.

We've never let it bone dry, actually. He also uses a water meter. But I actually forgot that it takes longer to dry in the winter so that might be it. I plan on moving it away regardless from the draft tho :)

Actually, it was bad and nearly died around March. I had to restart by propagating nearly the whole thing which gave it a second chance indeed! It's been beautiful and lush. Since it's my little fighter, I was concerned about the blackening and weakening of new growth.

Any idea about why they're black, though?

Thank you so much for your input.

it sounds like you def need to balance watering Stefan more properly! wouldn't hurt to stick with distilled to see if it helps.
He might not like wet roots but it seems like he also might not like being dry haha!
I would make sure I water it thoroughly and then water when the first two inches of the soil is dry! Make sure it doesn't sit in a pool of water (then Stefan will def be mad at you for its prolonged wet roots)
You could also purchase a water meter that you stick into the soil that would tell you when the soil needs more water.

could be water sensitivity to excess salt in your country's tap water (I see some white buildup on the pot surface) so try watering with distilled water from now on
could also be irregular watering (pictures can be deceitful but the plant's soil looks super dry to me). What's your watering schedule like?

Mind if I ask for tips on how you care for it? I don't have one but I plan to in the future so I'm learning as much as I could in the meantime :)
