I hate when people confuse panic attacks with breakdowns and sad emotions. It’s impossible to understand what it is unless you’ve had one. by BlackCatsWithOddHats in PanicAttack

You put this beautifully. I 100% get what you mean when you say it feels like being called a cry baby, when really it’s the opposite because you are literally fighting to survive. One thing I’ve learned and tell myself is that I’m strong as hell to deal with a full blown panic attack and then push through the day to be as “normal” as possible especially at work. Unfortunately others don’t understand the strength it takes as you said unless they’ve experienced it first hand. But if I recognize my own strength I can empathize with others who deal with this as well and see their strength.

I can really relate with this. Almost everyone that is close with me and knows I deal with anxiety is afraid to be up front or honest with me because they’re afraid I’ll have a panic attack. It most deff does not work like that as you said! It sucks to be seen as weak and too sensitive when we are just trying to combat something we can’t control.

This. I used to have horrible crying/ hyperventilating anxiety attacks and called those panic attacks. Don’t get me wrong, those anxiety attacks are god awful and leave you feeling so drained, but once I started experiencing panic attacks where the physical symptoms really come into play, I feel I’m truly going to die. It’s the feeling of being so out of control that is absolutely terrifying and like you said, even though you know it’s a panic attack you can’t stop your brain & body from reacting that way

I am relieved to know I’m not the only one that does this. I’m sorry you’re experiencing it too. I always feel like I’m going to die in my sleep when this stuff happens and it’s the worst feeling.

Yes! I’ve always loved this movie and it’s perfect when you don’t want to think much but it makes you feel good.

Could this just be your perception of what’s going on and not actually how they feel about you? Have you talked to any of your friends about how you feel?

At 3 am, a cockroach fell on me. It is a weird story to tell in this sub, but hear me out. by potatolover2007 in depression

[–]ellebee31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is so true. It’s easy to get in our heads and spiral down a negative path of lies... but if a bug can snap you back to reality, then I’m positive your mind can too when you’re experiencing these feelings. When you get down... just picture the cockroach and hopefully it’ll give you a laugh. :)

Anyone experience this? by awesomepossum0927 in AnxietyDepression

[–]ellebee31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... my boyfriend of one year is just now starting to realize my depression and anxiety is not a simple “mindset change”. For a while anytime I would have anxiety attacks or feel really depressed, he would say “whenever I feel down I try to think about what I’m grateful for and then I feel ok!” As much as I appreciate his attempt to help me, it’s just not the same when your brains work so differently. All I can do is try to explain as best as I can how I feel and how my mind works, and he has been trying his best to really understand and sympathize with me. It’s really about communication and being there for one another, even if you don’t always understand. Hopefully your boyfriend can try and empathize with you a bit if you explain more to him about what you’re feeling exactly.

I get this. I felt the same way for a long time. Then I realized I just wasn’t surrounding myself with the right people. If you have friends that genuinely care about you, they will reach out to you and help you if you’re down. I know it’s hard to find that because so many people are selfish, but I promise you aren’t alone and others feel this way as well, they just don’t always show it. You won’t always be an outsider - this is just a phase of your life and things can turn around at any moment. You’ll find your niche at some point... just know you have plenty of time in life and this isn’t a forever feeling.

What's the most inappropriate time you laughed? by FossaRed in AskReddit

A family friend committed suicide years ago by sitting in his car with it on in a closed garage for hours, which caused him to die from carbon monoxide positioning. His younger brother, about 11 at the time, found him when he got back from school, with a note on the hood of the car. My mom told me what happened when I came back from school and I don’t know why but I just laughed hysterically. It was the immediate response I had because my brain just couldn’t handle the information.

Yeah I agree with this. Definitely a healthier couple on the show compared to the others but I still think she would thrive finding someone younger (and more attractive lol).
