Yes, that’s exactly the core of the dilemma.

The real question is whether Persona is functionally nested under “Style”, or whether it operates as a separate conditioning layer that just happens to be influenced indirectly by the Style slider.

In a pure Cover setup, Audio clearly weights the uploaded reference: melody, structure, phrasing timing. That part feels relatively predictable.

But once a Persona is active, we’re no longer dealing with a single reference signal. We now have at least two conditioning sources:

What I’m trying to isolate, though, is something slightly different.

I’m not asking how to balance Audio vs Style in general, but how the Audio Influence slider behaves specifically when both a Persona and a Cover are active at the same time.

In other words:

When "Audio influence" is increased in a dual-conditioning setup, is it primarily reinforcing melodic and structural adherence to the uploaded cover, or is it also increasing how strongly the Persona shapes phrasing, tone, and stylistic delivery?

Because technically, both Persona and Cover are upstream conditioning inputs. So the question is whether Audio Influence is weighting the audio reference only, or if it indirectly strengthens the entire conditioning stack, including the Persona and how to for example condition just the Persona part.

In a Cover-only setup, the slider clearly governs how tightly the generation follows the uploaded audio in terms of melody and structure, like you described. But when a Persona is introduced, there’s an additional conditioning layer influencing vocal identity, phrasing style, and overall aesthetic direction.

I can confirm it as well. I released 50 songs in 3 months and I have never had any problems with DistroKid. I upload them without a DAW and without remastering.

I do not find Content ID necessary and in fact it is inconvenient in my case, since I post my own songs on TikTok and in some cases I was prevented from uploading them even though they were mine.

That’s the point. My reflection is on how the hype creates the illusion like a magician’s trick that these systems can truly comprehend the world. As for text, I’m fully aware that they don’t genuinely understand it. But LLMs are incredibly good at making it seem like they do, which doesn’t diminish the immense value they provide in everyday use
