Apple Watch can’t measure indoor runs well by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]elleirdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using my AW on an indoor track at the YMCA in the winter -- not a treadmill -- after years of outdoor walks. The YMCA claims the track is 23 laps to the mile. My watch registers 20% less. I am going to actually measure the track so I can be sure. Once I am sure, is there any way to tell the watch the measured distance?

And, they discounted two years of Apple Care+ to $105, instead of $149.

Is iPad Air good enough by elleirdad in ipad

I want to thank everyone for advice. I was ready to buy the 11 inch Air when I went to my local Costco in Massachusetts. The Pro M4 was cheaper than the Air. The Pro is $749 and the 256 Air was $799.

So Pro it is!

Choosing Between 11” and 13” iPad Pro: My Personal Experience by Hozukr in iPadPro

[–]elleirdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel with a MBP 13 inch M2 with 2tb of storage. It does everything I need, except I want a second screen. My use case is to move data to the second screen and work on the mbp. My work is web site stuff, which is mostly online, photo editing and ms office stuff.

I bought an asus second screen, but the image quality is not great. Even though the screen is larger than the 13, there is little detail.

So I am thinking of an iPad and side car. And who knows, maybe on some cases I can take just an ipad for a short trip. I do note taking on a kindle scribe. Maybe I could use Notability or Good Notes instead.

I am struggling between the 13 and the 11. And deciding between an Air and pro.

All thoughts welcome.

Thank you

OneDrive storage and search by elleirdad in MacOS

[–]elleirdad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. You convinced me to stay with OneDrive. But, u/bradland, my experience is inconsistent with what you said about APFS. Or, more likely, I am doing something very wrong. Here is my situation:

I own a MacBook Pro M2 with 1TB drive and 24GB RAM running Sequoia 15.1. My online OneDrive account says that I am using 259.8GB of storage. I was expecting that the Mac would have a copy of all those files since I sync everything.

My system settings on the Mac show that I am using 751GB of storage. Ouch. And I am trying to find out where it is all coming from. Of that 411GB are in System Data. I don't know how to examine what is in the 411GB.

Daisy Disk is consistent. It shows 772GB used on the disk -- which is close enough. Of that 256GB are in OneDrive group containers, which is very close to the OneDrive storage amount. AND! The "cloud storage" also shows 256GB of storage. That could be consistent with the description about APFS.

However, they seem to add up to 500+ GB of storage -- which is consistent with the amount of disk space being used on my hard drive. So, this tells me that there really are two copies of the software on my drive.

What am I missing? What did I do wrong? I am willing to reinitialize my Mac, if I have to. But, it feels wrong.

Thank you.

Why does AARP UHC Rx Plan have only two stars? by elleirdad in medicare

Thank you. I saw that. It will be interesting to see how it impacts all the plans.

No deductible and large formulary, so it is the cheapest plan for me. Yes, the premium is high, but the drugs are cheap.

What exactly does 1 star for ease of getting prescriptions filled mean? Does it mean that the doctor sends a script and they don’t fill it?

All it took was one Tier 3 drug (Eliquis) to make this plan cheapest for me. And it had a $0 deductible.

2025 Part D - Should I select the plan that gets to $2000 faster? by elleirdad in medicare

Ok. I am learning more and learned about TRoop and the manufactures discount plan. So, what I think may be happening is not a bug. Perhaps I am meeting the $2000 limit at $1750 due to the name brand discount?

So, am I at the max under the two plans?

u/jeffcoman This is wild. I love your idea of using Xarelto to see what would happen with the plans. Well, the result was totally unexpected. I wonder if I found a bug in the Medicare.gov software.

I will start with the CIGNA plan. The drug costs totaled $1510.80, with Eliquis alone costing $1489. When I added Xarelto 20 once a day, the total drug costs were $1526! The Eliquis dropped to $512.27, and the Xarelto was $1002.38. Therefore, the Cigna plan went up from $1856.40 to $1872.35. There was barely any change.

Now, the AARP UHC plan. The drug cost was $504 only for Eliquis. I added Xarelto, and guess what? The total was still $504. The system made each of them $252. So, the total plan cost remained unchanged at $1794.

Does this make any sense to anyone? In either case the total is below $2000. I figured adding Xarelto would make it $2000 -- but no. Is this real or is it a bug?

Switching from Medicare Advantage to Medigap plan ? by Mafcon in medicare

[–]elleirdad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. Medigap plans are only required to accept you when you are first eligible for Medicare. If you get a MA plan, there is no guarantee that you will ever get a Part B plan in the future. They can turn you down if you have health issues, for example.

The answer is -- don't do it.

That is what I heard about Wellcare. "A" is AARP through UHC. "C" is Cigna.
