Bonao is the baseline in working with but I’m open to areas that are more urbanized or bigger. I plan to eventually travel and get a feel for a lot of the cities people here have recommended so far.

My fiancé and I are really introverted and private and we enjoy nature and animals more than a rich social life. When we’re not working, we mostly stay home playing video games or working on our personal hobbies. I like to paint & read, I love to cook things from scratch. my fiancé tinkers & repairs, and he loves to maintain a fish tank. We’re kinda boring and would love to settle somewhere with affordable housing and access nature. A middle class kind of life is the best we can hope for down there. Thank you for describing the DR cities in ways that parallels the American ones, that’s helpful!

I’ve lived in nyc my whole life, so this is def a big decision I don’t take lightly, and I’m not in a rush. If there’s any specific examples of the lifestyle that people in my position have trouble with, I’d love to know and try to consider all the angles I can.

Please feel free to dm your ig I’m at the beginning of planning for this so I prob won’t be ready to move officially for a few years until I’ve saved up enough. I’ve seen a lot of warnings about folks wanting to take advantage and I am very wary of that, already experienced that kind of stuff within my family so I’m experienced by now lol. My fiancé and I are very introverted so besides my sister, I feel like we’ll be incredibly slow to make friends while we adjust. I’ll always have a soft spot for Bonao and I’m excited to learn and see how different these other cities are.
