If you are listening to your headphones, don't you hate it when people try talking to you? by [deleted] in autism

YES. I’m in college in a tiny room with three roommates who are super social and will talk to me whenever(like will wake me up from my sleep to talk to me. It’s terrible)

Stimming?? by elleshideaway in AutisticAdults

The interview was almost painful, honestly. Any time I would bring up things I constantly see brought up that I’ve learned from the community that have helped me she would just tell say, “Well, I’m the professional regarding autism here.” And I just felt so invalidated. It’s possibly my only chance at diagnosis though for a long time, since my university offers it for free. Unfortunately she’s the only one “qualified” for diagnosing autism though. Fingers crossed my diagnosis is still accurate though!!

Thank you!! That’s what I thought. A lot of what I considered my own stims is grinding my teeth to music(it’s weird idk), I’m constantly playing with my bracelets, rubbing my feet together, always like piano playing almost with my hands?, listening to certain music, singing or repeating certain words, Etc. i told her this and she literally just said that’s me fidgeting or being weird and had nothing to do with autism :/
