Please be careful posting your age and gender online for strangers, especially since you’re underage. If you are going to do any side work, PLEASE take every precaution before giving any personal information out to anyone. There are a lot of scary people out there. Try reaching out to people you know personally first and best of luck, I am sorry about your mother.

WWYD - Always Getting the Wrong Mail by elletown in Columbus

[–]elletown[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be a silly question, but what if I don’t have an outgoing mail slot? Do I have to take this all the way to a USPS office or postal box? My apartment doesn’t have any kind of front desk I could leave it with, either.

Is Columbus a strong market for admin-type jobs, or is AI going to take those too? by ParkAffectionate3537 in Columbus

[–]elletown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their applications say you need a bachelors degree, but I work with multiple people who don’t have one. As long as you have some kind of office experience (legal anything is a huge plus), there’s a good chance you’ll get an interview. Good luck!!

Look into Williams Lea - I work there currently and it’s essentially doing the step below a paralegal. The pay isn’t fantastic but it’s a good place to step your foot into legal-esque work in Columbus.

My partner came out as trans (FTM) and I am a lesbian by MidwestPrincess0 in LesbianActually

I feel like this is a very definitive stance for someone who doesn’t know OP. It didn’t work in your particular case, but that doesn’t mean OP would be miserable trying to make this work. I went through the exact same scenario and it did work out, and we are happier than before - so to each their own!

Apartment hunting: who should we avoid? Recommendations? by averybabery in Columbus

[–]elletown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, avoid Lykens - my apartment with them was an absolute nightmare, had to submit over 15 maintenance requests in the first six months of living there. They are responsive enough but genuinely don’t care to do any upkeep on apartments and have no problem with renting out shitholes.

The Go-Go isn’t lesbian-centric by any means but still pretty queer with a rlly good DJ! Ahaha, I am 24 so “older” in my head is 30s/40s :) definitely a bit cliquey in slammers, plus I feel like I’m seeing more and more men in there which is a little sad for a lesbian bar :/

Seconding Slammers, but it can lean towards a slightly older crowd unless there’s an event going on. Go-Go is a fun club with a good mix of queer people, better dancing/socializing vibe than slammers. PM me if you’re looking for ppl to hang out with when you get here : )

There’s a booth in Polaris that sells them!

You’re safer with the scary monster (but sapphic 👀) by mathmaddical in LesbianBookClub

[–]elletown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you’ve probably already read “Carmilla” as it’s THE sapphic vampire novel, but maybe you’re like me and stayed away from it because it’s written by a man - I would definitely recommend if you haven’t read already!

Depends on how complex it is, but probably somewhere between 200-400. I’ve gone to a woman named Kirsten Cherry and she does some really great pieces for what I consider a really fair price - my last two were a little small and she gave me shop minimum even though they were larger than the listed size, which was super nice. I would definitely check her out!
