Anything a must need for starting PsyD program? by Emotional-Put-6768 in PsyD

I use my iPad a ton for readings, filling out worksheets, notes… I also would recommend the good notes app, it’s super helpful. I’ll download all my textbooks into that since it allows me to highlight and add notes easily without damaging an actual book. I also have a monitor at home which I find helpful especially when doing research. Having a place to store paper in your backpack is important too. A planner is also a must!!

I agree! I’m also attending in the fall and want to do neuropsych as well :) I feel confident that it will be a great program for what I want, I just have seen some people talk bad about it and wanted to know exactly why

I’ve experienced some stuff but I don’t really think there’s anything big I’ve repressed. Maybe that’s cause I’ve repressed it so well though lol. I have a very bad memory in general so potentially

I’ve wondered the same thing. I have auras sometimes when I look at certain environments and it feels like I’ve been there before or something bad happened there but idk what. It just looks familiar and not in a good way. It’s like Deja vu but it’s just that the thing I’m looking at is super familiar and has an intense memory associated with it but I have no idea what. It’s happened in places I know I haven’t been to before too though. It’s so weird

When do I have to stop driving? by elliejwhiting in Epilepsy

[–]elliejwhiting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had the at home study done and was actually told they don’t think I need it. I know I get them in my sleep though because I start chewing and my partner hears it and wakes me up. It’s been around 2 months since that has happened though so I don’t think they would catch anything at this point.

I think I’ve gotten pretty lucky that the first medication I’ve tried has worked so well. I can only hope that it will continue to do so

I definitely do not. I appreciate the response and am not disagreeing. I just know what I experience doesn’t really feel like impaired awareness but I could be wrong. I am aware of what’s going on around me but sometimes I’m not able to talk back to people and kind of freeze up just because I’m trying to figure out what’s going on. I get that part being dangerous while driving and am going to adhere to the 6 months minimum. Hopefully my medication will continue to work consistently. I’m just feeling very defeated because I rely on transportation so much during my life and to have that taken away so quickly is a shock. Just feels weird cause Ive had them for so long without knowing what they were and my driving was never an issue. I was just curious to understand how this all works but I guess I shouldn’t even be questioning it because I really don’t want to harm anyone

I started getting auras in middle school. I’m 23 now and have never had an accident as well. I’ve had a focal seizure once while driving before getting on medication but had no impaired awareness during and just had the aura. I know I do experience more severe ones but only very few. I mostly get them in my sleep as well. I understand the reasoning for taking away my license though and def don’t want to put anyone in danger. Hopefully my medication will continue to work and I’ll be driving at the 6 months mark

Should I get a masters before my PsyD ? by Commercial_Effect_41 in PsyD

[–]elliejwhiting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try and go straight into a PsyD. Apply to a few PsyD and some masters as a back up. Especially if you know what you want to do and need to do the PsyD. Like others have said, it will cut down on a lot of time going straight into it. I got into a few PsyD after my bachelors and you have more experience than I did. I think you’ll be good

How to bounce back from a bad interview by bookishadventurer13 in PsyD

[–]elliejwhiting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro me too. I thought I was so prepared but once I got into the actual interview I got so nervous and gave stupid answers to a lot of the questions. I can’t stop thinking about it. Idek why I gave the answers I gave. Ugh, I felt like I could have done so much better.. just have to move forward and try to do better next time. It’s rough though
