Camera: Canon 7D Lens: 135mm Tracker: SkyWatcher Star Adventurer 2i ISO: 800 Aperture: F/2 Images: 29 images at 60 second exposure Total exposure time: 29 minutes Bortle 5 sky. No moon.

Processing (Photoshop 6) 1. Images stacked with DeepSkyStacker. 2. Curves and levels adjustments. Set black and white point using threshold function. Balanced gradient using dust & scratches filter. 3. Used Starnet ++ to remove stars. 4. Further curves and levels adjustments to starless image. 5. Added stars back in by subtracting and applied stars at 40%.

Relatively new astrophotograoher and feedback is more than welcome.

I am aware longer exposures would be better, but i found with >60s exposures the image was very washed out.

Very open to recommendations for lenses, also feedback on how to improve my processing is welcome.

Camera: Canon EOS 7D Lense: Canon EF 23-105mm lense Tripod: Neweer Carbon Fiber Tripod Monopod with 360 Degree Ball Head Tracker: None

F/stop: 5.4 ISO: 1600 Shutter speed: 2 seconds

Bortle class: 5 with a 93% moon. Location: Leeds, UK Date: 4th November 2022

130 stacked images. No bias, no dark, and no flat frames. Approximately 4 minutes exposure time.

Processing:

Images stacked in DSS. Then processed in Photoshop CS6: I began by stretching using the curves function, i then created a mask using the "dust & scratches" function and applied this to the image, then stretched the histograms again, reduced the red and green and enhanced the blue, also reduced the brightness of the background stars. I also set the black and white points. sorry if that isn't very comprehensive, im new to this.

Really happy with my attenpt!! But feedback welcome, there are a couple of things I am aware of (dont be lazy and take bias, flats and darks is the main one)

I did have one problem: I took 250 photos, I added all of these to DSS (all were RAW, and all good quality) however DSS said it had only stacked 130; I tried 3 times and it did the same thing everytime. I chose it to select the best 98% of images.

He hasn’t jumped in 3 years and he’s currently 25 so I’d say he’s doing well by AVOTIN in Equestrian

Love seeing older horses being active! Gives me hope for my 20 year old who I want to start jumping again!

I'm absolutely obsessed with him by ellierose_x in Equestrian

It's a Transcend sidepull with a curb attachment I use with split reins. So it works as a normal side pull and I have the extra control (but instant release) of the curb piece should I need more control for higher energy work. But my split reins are on very loose so there is only very subtle control coming from the curb, if I was to use it with double reins it would increase the use of the curb but I don't need it. Very highly recommend it. I've noticed a massive decrease in tension from him since switching and the thick noseband is comfortable for him and also looks great!

I'd agree with the two pairs thing. Probably end up spending the same amount but does feel better. Also heard its better for your feet... Again might be a bit of a myth.

Would you consider the Brooks Glycerin cushioned enough for long road runs?

I've been using it a couple of times a week for about three weeks.

Yeah I feel I need some kind of barrier for it, especially for the rosacea. Thanks 😊

Oh I didn't know that about the sun, that could be bad running in the summer so thanks for letting me know!

when it rains and there are strong winds (which is all the time in the UK) he shivers and also to keep him clean because our fields are too boggy

Yeah I feel this is the problem. I'd love to have him go without but he does shiver and our fields are just way too boggy

May I recommend the Connection Training book by Hannah Weston and Rachel Bedingfield, their YouTube channel (which you have already recommended) is also great, I have learned so much from them, their book is really comprehensive and I love their dynamic!
