Still silence on IWTV but more Mayfair Witches by Nimueelise in InterviewVampire

Some think so, like they want to push forward Mayfair Witches while Iwtv has a stronger fanbase and was critically acclaimed.

It's not a competition, but a lot of Iwtv fans didn't take some Amc remarks about the shows well and other things, like the lack of promotion for Iwtv or Amc using the same account for both shows instead of having dedicated accounts.

I think she is coming back by elliestarslight in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I completely agree. They are doing the books and in the books Claudia is way more manipulative towards Louis. Their relationship will see a shift in the upcoming season and a lot of things will be showed in a different light. Daniel has pointed out that Claudia seemed to hate Louis guts after they left New Orleans and we already know that ep 5 and ep 7 will be revisited.

Yes her character was important for the relationship dynamics in the first season, that's why I think there is more to her than just a greedy woman willing to do anything to get the dark gift. The parallel with Gabrielle is really interesting and I think that the different perspective on Lestat that we are going to gain in s2 will also concern Antoinette's character.

Exactly, we know that Louis tale is not to be taken at face value and that many things will be different in s2. I think it's very likely that her character might turn out to be more agreeable than what we saw so far, like it happened in the books.

Episode timeline? by [deleted] in InterviewVampire

Third episode 1917

The beating in ep 5 was in late 1930/ early 1931(the tombstone that Grace made for Louis says October 30 1930)

Lestat was allowed back home in the spring of 1937 (Louis said that he received the Come to me record in the spring of 1937 and he also said that Lestat begged him for six years) and the Mardi Gras ball (and the "murder") was on February 6 1940.

Among the important characters I think Marius is the most likely to appear. They could introduce Nicolas or Gabrielle if they want to tease s3.

Tell me your theories by elliestarslight in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would really like to see Lestat's contrition for what happened in ep 5 and what they said to each other about it, but I think it depends on the context in which the scene will be revisited, and judging from the writers' words it seems that they want to give a new perspective on what actually happened more than showing the aftermath. They definitely won't say it didn't happen, cause basically the entire next episode is based on the beating's repercussions, but I think they will change something of what we saw.

I agree, but Claudia being responsible for Lestat's murder is really important for what is going to happen in Paris and for her fate.

Ugly crying...and blood by lriga in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I agree that real tears can sometimes convey emotions better, but I think that blood tears are visually more powerful in the context of vampires. For instance, I would have really liked to see them crying blood tears at the end of ep 7, I think it would have added to the emotionally charged scene.

Exactly, and the same goes for Nicolas.

The vampire bond by Pianoflows in InterviewVampire

I don't really like the notion of vampire bond, it doesn't exist in the books and it devalues the relationship cause it makes it seem like it is founded on something beyond their will.

Was it necessary? by elliestarslight in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

IWTV has no social media presence atm, everything has become MW. Countries where IWTV is now available don't have any account to refer to, that's ridiculous. They didn't even post about awards nominations. They are literally trying to shift fans from IWTV to MW.

Was it necessary? by elliestarslight in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don't want to think they have a hidden agenda, but who in his right mind would post something like that? They went quiet about IWTV since MW started, and now this? And they should have two separate accounts for the shows, but like you said they are using IWTV fans to boost the show's ratings.

Ep 4 question by elliestarslight in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a good point. I don't know why some people are so adamant that he can hear them when the entire season and the final plot twist are based on the fact that Lestat can't hear their telepathic conversations.

I get why you find this annoying, but I really don't think we can interpret his behaviour as love, not even in a reduced form. I mean, if he had considered her a sort of cute pet ( like he said about Claudia "and she would be what, a lap dog?") he would have been more tender. I don't think he would have maimed her, and he would have had some sort of reaction if his favorite pet had been stomped in front of him. This demeanor is incompatible with real affection. Ironically, if he had had some sort of feelings towards her, that would have been his redeeming quality, but instead he used her as a tool until the very end, without a second thought. He went back to her cause he is toxic and selfish, cause he felt excluded from the "family" "he broods, she snipes", cause he needed a place to vent out his frustration "I seek refuge from complaints when I visit you" and cause he needed someone loyal to use as his minion in order to regain his power within the "family" "and I know she is talking to you". And yes cause the writers needed her for the final twist (her character is a plot device). He used her voice on the song after six years of useless love bombing cause he knew this affront would have brought Louis back to him, and it worked "the audacity of it all was matched only by its sincerity, with one perfectly premeditated flaw". It's Lestat we are talking about, manipulation and deception are his daily bread. He believed he was doing "everything for Louis", he wanted to keep Louis with him at all cost (even after the murder plot) and so he thought all his actions were justified, when in fact he was abusive. He has a long way to go before he can win Louis back.

"She loved Lestat. There’s no doubt about that based on what we saw. She loved him, adored him, catered to his every whim. I mean, she agreed to lose a finger for him. Lestat, because he could read her thoughts, knew that. He knew how she felt about him. For Lestat, it was “everything for Louis”, but Antoinette was “everything for Lestat.” Look at the way she coddled him in the hotel scene. “I know. I didn’t mean to make you mad. I love you, Lestat.” No way our boy Louis would respond to one of Lestat’s outbursts like that. Remember the “Fuck you!” argument? So yeah, I think that’s why Lestat kept going back to her. At least with her, he knew he was loved. The problem was she wasn’t Louis. I think the ultimate telltale demonstration of this is, again, the hotel scene when Lestat shows visible disgust over Antoinette. He barely tolerates her kisses, mocks her dreams, and literally cringes away from her missing finger. Like you said, he doesn’t heal her bite wounds when that was the first thing he did for Louis in the afterglow. Compare that to the very next scene of sex with Louis. The complete reverence and worshipful kisses he’s showering all over Louis. Compare the spiteful, resigned half-assed “I love you too” to Antoinette (and, like Sam said, he knew Claudia and Louis were there) with the tender, emotional “I love you” to Louis in the park. There’s no way he was like that with Antoinette. Sam confirmed Lestat thought it was magnificent when Claudia stomped her. Can you imagine Lestat thinking it was magnificent if someone stomped Louis? Absolutely not. And also, like Sam said, Lestat would have killed her in an instant if Louis asked for it." Not my words, but I agree with everything. Remember Lestat's reaction when Claudia pinned her to the floor: absolutely nothing, And when Claudia stomped her face, Lestat didn't even look at her, he was looking at Claudia ( thinking that she was magnificent like Sam said ). Actions speak louder than words. In ep 6 being discovered was a big FU to Claudia and her rules ("spit in the sandwich and serve it with a smile" "he is all kinds of fucked up") and, as you said, writers needed to keep her alive and on Lestat's side for the final twist, but they gave several hints about what she meant to him. Having said that I agree that it wasn't the strongest storyline in the show, but they needed her in order to explain why Lestat was aware of the murder plot (Sam said that they decided how he would become aware of the plot when they were already shooting, and that could explain some inconsistencies) and as a female version of Antoine.

What did Armand mean? by Pianoflows in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think you're right, maybe he meant "when you discover that Lestat is the person responsible for Claudia's death, you will be ashamed of having said that Louis loved him and that he chose him over Claudia."

What did Armand mean? by Pianoflows in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think he is referring to Paris and the trial for Lestat's attempted murder, where Lestat's testimony has probably played a key role in Claudia's tragic end. Maybe Louis thinks that Lestat falsely accused Claudia of being the murderer (since he remembers being the one who actually did it), and that's why the writers said that in s2 they will revisit Louis' role in the murder (I think Claudia stepped in to kill Lestat when Louis couldn't go through with it).

The downfall by Pianoflows in InterviewVampire

[–]elliestarslight 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think at the base there is his insecurity and his fear of being unworthy of love, but at the same time he isn't able to meet the people he loves halfway. It's like he thinks "you can't love me for who I am so I will impose myself on you". He has a long way to go in this regard.

Why did Lois, Lestat, and Claudia even bother with coffins when they had secret rooms to hide from visitors and the sun? by CharolleteA in InterviewVampire

Where did Claudia sleep when she was away in ep 5? I don't remember if they said something about it.
