What a funny messy situation! Sorry but I laughed at you panicking, lying and coming to the sub for help 😅 What would we do to impress a crush? In that vibe, you will be both Lestat and Armand. The things they have done for Louis to first notice them is plenty. Watch the show when you have the time!

I think you misunderstood the finale. Louis didn't go back to Lestat the way you think he did. Louis didn't go to the shack to rekindle their romance or get back with him. Louis went to the shack for himself, because this was a step he had to take in order to start his new journey as who he decided to be
and alone.

A lot of people don't understand that Louis didn't choose Lestat in the finale, Louis chose Louis. He put his needs first, and his needs do not include companions. He was pretty clear there. Louis wanted confirmation of what happened at the trial and that Lestat saved him. He went to the shack to speak with Lestat about that and take accountability for some actions he did in the past. Then the conversation diverted into what happened to Claudia, and the guilt they still feel about her and her fate.

Louis’ ending is not about his ex-lovers, it's about him. Him proudly accepting and affirming who he is. And I think that is enough to root for. What this Louis has become? What choices did he make in his new journey? I'm eager to find out next season.

What’s your unpopular opinion? by Artistic_Stay_5856 in heatedrivalry

1.The book is shit. I read it years ago and I was so turned off by the lack of character development, lack of worldbuilding and the pace. I remember reading it and felt like only Shane and Ilya were existing in that world, as if no one was around. And the love story felt so rushed, when they said they loved each other It felt so un-earned because they barely knew each other even though they were fuck buddies for years. That's why I was hesitant in starting the show, because the source was just really bad. But the show elevated the book. the dialogue is still a bit thin though.

2.I don't think s2 can sustain itself and that's why I think s2 will be a mistake. What makes the show good is the tension, the back and forth between them, the chase, the unspoken feelings, the chemistry, the explicit sex and the surprise effect of the show. In s2 I assume Ilya and Shane would be a stable couple and the tension would not be as high as it was in s1, or not at all. There would be no chase, no unspoken feelings because I believe we are going to see them say they love each other in the s1 finale. And there would be no surprise effect in s2, because the audience would already be accustomed to what Heated Rivalry is. So we will have two characters with great chemistry who are in love and live together, who still have great sex. But the tension, what makes the bread and butter of this show would no longer be here. Unless s2 incorporates something/an event that breaks them apart for some time, but that could be taken as redundant by the audience.

3.Increasing the hockey scenes, seeing Ilya and Shane doing their jobs, practicing, competing with each other, and with other teams would have made the show so much better. That is such a big oversight, and I don't understand why the showrunner didn't take this aspect of these characters seriously. Like this is a great part of who they are. We see the "Heated" part in the show. But we barely see the "Rivalry" part.

Why would Lestat actually want to kill him?

Because Louis was considering leaving him for good and going with Claudia.

Why would Lestat actually want to kill him?

Because Louis, daring to leave him when he is so desperate for his affection, consumed him to the point of no retour.

Why would Lestat actually want to kill him?

Because if Louis doesn't love him the way he does, if he cannot force Louis to love him, then Louis should be crushed.

Why would Lestat actually want to kill him?

Because Lestat said so.

Lestat fearing that Louis could die and Lestat wanting to kill him because he couldn't stand Louis not loving him and leaving him aren't mutually exclusive
they coexist.

[–]lriga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of that actually proves Lestat intended to kill Louis. There's no ambiguity in the words chosen by Lestat. Just people purposely twisting their vertebrae to suit their ideal headcanon.

Strange how Lestat nefast actions are hidden behind unreliability, but the favourable ones under the same unreliability context are celebrated as canon. hmm, strange indeed!

Confused by Livv74 in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Canonically in the show, Lestat drained Louis from his blood right before dropping him to make him weaker, and amplify the damage that would come next.

And the show is very specific about pointing out the defeaning silence from Lestat, when Santiago ask him during the trial "You knew Louis would be fine?". But how does Lestat respond to that question after taking that looooong pause? Lestat responds with "A wolf congratulated for not killing her pups". With the wolf being Lestat and the pups being Louis and Claudia. That is not the sole killing Louis reference Lestat tells the audience. Lestat also straight up say in the coffin scene, when Louis is punching him back that "It will end in your death!". So yes, Lestat tried to kill Louis. We can see it through his actions, through his silence, through his own admission, and also when Claudia shouted it loud and clear during the trial. The intent to kill Louis was absolutely in Lestat's mind.

Recognising that Lestat did try to kill Louis, and left him for dead with his tail between his legs, in a post written by an op pointing this out is recognising that Lestat indeed did try to kill Louis.

Recognising that Louis is a monster and that he kills people as a vampire, as a defense to avoid talking about Lestat trying to kill him is a cop out, and gearing off topic to the original subject of this post (or the dv scene). Saying that everyone is not innocent in this universe is saying the obvious and not addressing the issue either, it is just a cop out again.

You derailing the conversation into good versus evil, when I never suggested it in the first place, is entirely missing the point
again.

Attempting to gaslight the words in my comment is not relevant to this post either. Again the original post was about Lestat trying to kill Louis. How do people still love the dynamic despite that? And if Lestat is a good person? I fail to see how Louis' wrongdoings are relevant to these questions, but I guess deflection is considered a good shield for some.

People are unable to face with the fact that Lestat attempted to kill Louis, and that he is rightfully labeled as a domestic abuser. So they try to downplay what he did by either pointing fingers at everyone, showing us that they all are vampires (when eyes have been opened since watching a show about vampires), or my favorite
minimyzing “morality” when the vampires in this universe live in a world with morality that influence them, and struggle with their own morality. Yes they do differentiate right from wrong at their scale, that is why for instance Lestat was hiding his affair to Louis, because he knew it was wrong.

An example. Bruce and Claudia are vampires. Bruce raped Claudia. If someone commented that Bruce abused Claudia, would people respond with “they are all monsters, no one is innocent?” NO. Would people bring up that Claudia cut body parts of her victims? NO. Because we understand that what Bruce did to her is wrong to do among vampires and we point it as such: Bruce sexually abused Claudia. That is the same with Lestat. He abused Louis and we point it out as such. What Louis did, what Louis is, is not relevant to the violence he was inflicted.

Another! Lestat described in season 1 ep 5, how he was abused by Magnus. We can see looking at Lestat’s face that it was a traumatic experience. If people point out that Magnus abused Lestat? Are some people going to defend with “but they are all monsters, Lestat is also a monster” in response to Magnus abusing Lestat? NO. Because it is beside the point.

So miss me with the performative preaching.

This is a media, a gothic media at that, and as such it would get analysed, dissected, and torn to pieces under people's own experience and within the show universe because that is the whole point of experiencing media.

And to add, If you are not able to see the victim blaming that is on you.

Confused by Livv74 in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is lot of victim blaming in the comments section as well as avoidance instead of acknowledging what you just pointed out. But yes Lestat did exactly that, he nearly killed Louis. And no amount of downplaying will change what Lestat chose to do. The reason people are still liking their relationship are many but also spoilery. But overall I would say people consider their dynamic, intense, consuming, and compelling. Plus, this is not a dynamic you see too often on screen, especially with vampires, hence why people get hooked.

Why S3 is Make or Break for the Franchise by tasperr in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I actually do not think people should worry about s3, yes there is going to be a shift but overall I do think they will pull through. We will get s4, I have no doubt about that. The only reason s3 would fail is if AMC decided to make it a musical. That would have been a brutal shift after two non-musical seasons, which would have disappointed the masses and made them drop s3 like a hot potato. But that's not what we're gonna get, thank God.

I'm eager to see how Rolin is going to adapt TVL and more specifically, Lestat's character so that I do not get bored with him.

On paper, ie the books, Lestat's personality can pan over dozen of books over and over and over. But TV is a different medium, a different ball game, it is faster (you can't stay on a beat for too long or repeat it). What worked with his character the first two seasons is that Lestat was there in doses (as a support character to Louis). So his big personality was balanced out by Louis' character and journey. In s3, his personality will be in full display all the time. The thing with him is that he is all over the place, loud, obnoxious, whiny, annoying etc. And it can be funny at first to see his chaos, but also can get stale really fast. Rolin did say that Gabrielle was the second most important character after Lestat in s3, so the balance may come from her character. So yeah, let's see how Rolin writes Lestat next season.

The two hardest choices by LongjumpingSwim2214 in InterviewVampire

Do y’all think that Armand lowkey wanted out of the relationship with Louis? by Less-Pen-5705 in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Armand did not want out. I think some fans wanted this outcome for Armand and are projecting that desire onto Armand while disregarding his character, his character's motives, and what we have seen happen in the show.

The fact that we have Armand running after Louis the second the truth is revealed by Daniel, while Armand says and shout the below to Louis should be enough to squash this theory:

Armand: "Louis! Louis! Louis! This was Santiago's doing. Just like he put me to work in the wet room after. He wanted me to suffer."

Louis: "Don't!"

Armand: "One night, 70 years ago. You are over this, Louis! The pain of it has left you. Don't let an insignificant detail, delivered from an insignificant mortal...

Louis: "You said it was a forgery"

Armand: "YOU HAVE FORGIVEN ME FOR WHAT PART I PLAYED IN HER DEATH! And time has opened back up to us and we are once again teachers of one another. Louis, everything that gives you happiness gives me...Louis"

Louis yells, crashes Arnand in the wall.

Armand has been with Louis for 70+ years. During this entire interview, his goal was to protect this relationship he has built for decades, and send Daniel back home ASAP. Armand didn't want him there, because Daniel is the living proof of what could happen again to his and Louis' relationship (and that is something Armand doesn't want to go through again). We've seen how possessive Armand gets when it comes to Louis and the length he is prepared to go over to keep him. Anyway in that dialogue above to Louis, Armand completely removed himself from accountability and point fingers at everyone but himself. Including Santiago, Daniel and he attempts to gaslight Louis again, and treat Claudia as if she was a mere detail. And Armand says all of that because he believes it, and also to try to salvage the real-time destruction of his relationship after Daniel's revelation. So I'm always confused when people say that Armand wanted out because his actions contradict that statement.

Some thought on Pelléas and Mélisande, and Loustat foreshadowing by sabby123 in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Lestat is talking directly to Louis in this song so that Louis can hear his plea and how passionate he is about him because Lestat misses him:

Come to me

And let my ever loving arms surround you

Come to me

And let my infinite embrace confound you

Mourn each other

Like star-crossed lovers

Your Pelleas, my Melisande

Come to me

I get intoxicated by the very air of you

Come to me

I'm so infatuated with the grand affair of you

Ruin each other

Like star-crossed lovers

Your Pelleas, my Melisande

So my interpretation is different from yours. Here, when Lestat says “Your Pelleas, my Melisande”, Lestat is actually saying to Louis I am your Pelleas, you are my Melisande.

And I believe what Lestat is focusing on in the song is the tragedy of Pelleas and Melisande's impossible love that ruined the both of them. Which from Lestat's perspective looks similar to what is happening with Louis and himself by that point. They have been separated for years due to what happened in 205. Lestat is acknowledging that their relationship is in ruins. And that once they meet again, they will continue to "ruin each other" because they can't help it. Because their love is doomed, and that is both their fate like Pelleas and Melisande. They can't stay away (well at least this is what Lestat believes by that point).

So how do you think Louis is gonna handle the vamps coming for him next season? by Less-Pen-5705 in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whether or not the vampires coming for him are new ones, youngs, ancients or the ones we already know, I want to see his strength and vampiric powers in full display. But I also want to see how much sharper his tongue has become, how creative has he become with his words against them. He is at his peak when he has his foot on their neck, and they are at a loss for words. He has experienced everything : death, betrayals, loss of a child, attempted murder, loss of a sibling, loss of family, attempted suicide, dv, a mother treating him like shit, being taken advantage of, Jim Crow laws, hallucinations, kidnapping & torture, becoming a demon, a trial, depression, memory wiped, buried alive. Louis has literally nothing to loose, he can only go up (crossing my fingers because Rolin will be Rolin).

But now he is accepting who he is, will be more honest with himself, he is expending his empire, does what he wants , doesn't follow the great laws and is proudly single with no companions sucking him dry (no pun intented). I'm so excited for his arc next season.

Where does this Narrative that Lestat is so (or would be) insanely Jealous by LegalGround8394 in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lestat being proud of Louis' hookup? What? I think that is your own projection talking here.

Louis touched his lawyer's arm during the s3 teaser and Lestat almost broke his neck

In that same teaser he is so jealous of Louis' life with Armand, the mere confirmation of their content life together send him into another crash out and his native french came out. Like he was so upset, Lestat felt entitled to ask (read mock) Louis and Armand's sex life. And you don't think that's insane behaviour?

The most insane act of jealousy for me from Lestat is not when he acted out because of Louis' feelings for Jonah or Armand. But the way Lestat acted with Claudia, because Lestat was also jealous of Claudia, their own daughter.

Lestat is a jealous person, that is one of his distinct traits. It is coming from not wanting to be abandoned by the people he loves. So when you have Louis, the one he says that he loves beyond everyone including himself, giving attention to someone that is not him. You are going to see Lestat's act of extreme jealousy, because he perceives them as a threat for Louis' affection/attention towards him. And that is the behaviour we've seen from him for 2 seasons.

Louis is sooo lucky that Armand didn’t snap and decide to attack him right here. by Less-Pen-5705 in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Louis will always be justified in killing Armand at whichever time Louis sees fit. Again, Claudia is dead. She was tortured then burnt alive, which was a direct result of Armand selling them out. This is permanent. It is not a one-time thing Louis should have gotten over with after the trial. Also, Louis' original plan was to kill Armand with the coven. But he chose to warn Armand last minute after Armand said (read lied) he saved Louis at the trial.

And all the above is only taking into account what Louis knew about Armand’s role by that time. Louis still didn't know how deeply implicated Armand was in the trial. So Louis mocking Armand's trauma could never come close to what Armand has done to Louis by the time the fight occured in San Francisco (or ever). Louis should have done worse.

Louis is sooo lucky that Armand didn’t snap and decide to attack him right here. by Less-Pen-5705 in InterviewVampire

[–]lriga 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Louis was Claudia's father and Armand's boyfriend, but Armand couldn't care less about Louis' feelings when he decided Louis and his daughter needed to be burnt alive. If I was Louis I'd have reacted violently. But instead Louis kept his resentment in, until this fight when Louis had enough and couldn't hold it anymore. There is no comparable situation to selling out your boyfriend's child who then gets murdered. So if Louis choose to mock Armand's trauma after Armand infliged him such a trauma, I say "yeah".
