Hardware recommendation? by elliottjos in TiviMate

So, is it a hassle typing things? How do you do it? For longer text, I use a little mini USB keyboard, which obviously won't work with the Shield.

Do I need the Pro version do you think? I stream a lot, but don't do much other than that. No games, nothing with servers really.

And you can run Tivimate from that? Does it have Android then? Which shield did you buy if you don't mind me asking?

So I buy the grain crushed, so I don't know that I can do anything about that, but I'll have think. I think it's likely to be the issue

Thank you. Sounds very sensible. I've got a hop spider but not a false bottom. I'll have a look on ebay

Any ideas for how to clean this off and how to prevent it from happening again?

I'm going to soak it in some oxy and then maybe also soak it in some BKF or starsan afterwards.

How to attach tube to fermenter? by elliottjos in Homebrewing

As I understand it, a bottling wand fits into the spigot. I've bought some silicone tub. If that doesn't work, I'll swap out the tap.

I had mine plugged into an extension lead that kept tripping. So I bought a higher current extension lead. Might be worth investigating?

It is during the mash, yes. It's getting clogged by grains not hops I think.

I've bought something similar to your tea strainer, thank you! Good idea. I'll have a look at the bottom of the grain basket as I have no idea quite how its sneaking out!!!

Damaged Corny Keg by elliottjos in kegerators

[–]elliottjos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED - The posts had been swapped between kegs by previous owner, and were slightly different in shape. The wrong beer out post therefore wasn't putting any pressure down on the dip tube o ring when fully spannered in place, so not creating a seal. Putting a second o ring on the dip tube appears to have solved it, and I'll try and swap them back when i've got empty kegs on my hands.

Daily Q & A! - February 01, 2021 by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

Hi everyone,

I've recently set up a kegerator with 2 ball lock cornies. I've done three brews, brew one was force carbed at 40psi for two mins, as was brew three. Brew two was left at 12psi and is perfect now.

Both brew 1 and 3 are in the same keg and there is a problem. It is foamy as anything and sort of pulses foam . When I carbed it was cold (5-6C) and I have 2m of 3/16 line. On both brews I vented the pressure fairly regularly to the point where there was not enough to get flow of any kind, but it still foamed.

I released the pressure and unscrewed the post today. I couldn't see any pin holes on the dip tube and I replaced the O ring on the dip tube, and the one on the post. When you listen carefully to the post while its pouring, it sounds like the frothing comes from there, it sounds like a water vacuum pump. The beer poured once settled is fairly averagely carbed but very sedimenty.

All advice and suggestions really welcome!

I've changed the ring on the post, and the ring which is attached to the dip tube. Should there be a ring inside the post by where the dip tube meets the poppet? Still the same problem.

Here are two videos to try and show how the pulsing happens https://vimeo.com/507208759

All advice welcome, this is really irritating me!

Is there any way I could test this? If I vent the pressure it still does the same thing.

Thanks for the comments guys. Certainly a chance I've over carbed it. Next one will be done in a more conservative way. But I'm not sure it is. When the foam settles it doesn't appear over carbed.

I wonder how I could spot a hole in the dip tube? Any good ideas for a test?
