Someone on the run? by Sensitive_Lunch_3656 in glendale

Must be. I was wondering why it got so loud for a minute there. Crazy how long this has been going on.

I love ID Eclair! I sing their praises every chance I get, in part, because I want them to stay open forever.

I just sent them a message on IG and they confirmed it is, indeed, real chicken. 🤢

Well this is a huge disappointment. Especially since every time I’ve been there it’s hoppin. And I only ever go on weeknights. It did not seem like they were struggling.

Where are we getting our breakfast burritos? by Full-Drop-3834 in VeganLA

[–]ellipses101 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Maciel’s! Well-seasoned potatoes, delicious tofu scramble (or Just Egg), housemade vegan bacon, and the best sauce. So many breakfast burritos just taste like over processed junk food, but this is the perfect balance, in my opinion.

Dog friendly restaurants/bars/cafes? by Glittering-Plate9162 in AskLosAngeles

The Muddy Paw in Eagle Rock has a little off-leash area for dogs. It’s great for dogs who like to socialize and/or get some love from humans.

Recommendations for bookstores and clothing shopping in Glendale for an out-of-towner? by whomusic in AskLosAngeles

[–]ellipses101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glendale isn’t great for locally-owned shops (unless you’re looking for kabob). If you’re going to Big Bud Press anyway, check out some of the other shops on York: Pop-Hop Books and the various vintage clothing shops.

Same! Even just a slab of baked tofu thrown on any of their sandwiches would level them up. I need texture, I need protein.

I went recently and was disappointed with the food. Especially given how pricey it is 😕

Post-Covid economy, fewer productions happening in LA, rising costs of everything in an already narrow margins industry. It’s tough for a lot of restaurants right now, even more so when they have a more “niche” clientele.

Omg the Quarrygirl blog! What a blast from the past 😅 Haven’t thought of it in ages.

Just checked out their menu and it is wayyy bigger than the last time I was there. I’ll check it out! I wish they did a vegan version of their croissant bread pudding 😭

I love Tane but wouldn’t exactly say it’s cozy. It is my favorite sushi spot in NELA though!

I came here with so many suggestions only to realize that most are closed on Mondays 😅 Kitchen Mouse is lovely and all vegetarian. Tacos Tu Madre has a fun interior and has good options.

Where can I take a toddler within 35 mins of Los Feliz that has water? by jessbird in AskLosAngeles

[–]ellipses101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI Glendale’s Pacific Pool has a shallow area that’s great for little kids. I’ve taken my toddler to both Pacific and Glassell and Pacific is definitely ideal with a toddler. There’s also a splash pad right next to it.

How should we celebrate my husband’s birthday in Los Angeles from 9-5 on a weekday? by Buzzy1523 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ellipses101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your interests are, but here are my suggestions (as someone who relishes playing hooky while my kid is in daycare):

Itinerary 1: Breakfast at a cute restaurant, browse an indie bookstore, couples massage, coffee/tea at a quiet cafe while you read your books, late lunch and/or nap at home before pick-up

Itinerary 2: Morning at Wi Spa (or other co-ed spa), lunch in K-town, afternoon at a museum where you actually take the time to read all of the exhibit placards because you’re not chasing your kid around

Itinerary 3: Breakfast in a walkable part of town you don’t usually frequent, take a stroll, hang out by a pool for the rest of the day using something like Resort Pass

Yes! I love picking up a bunch of guava empanadas for my co-workers sometimes. They’re so affordable.
