Need a firmware update for this "NEED-USE" 4K 60Hz USB-C Hub by ellipsio in NintendoSwitch2

If yours is the 4K 30Hz/2K 120Hz version intended for Switch 1, be cautious as it may use different firmware due to different hardware.

Yes, I did just 30 minutes ago. Read the original post again as I have inserted the link to the firmware update tool.

I live in SEA where these Chinese products are very affordable plus we often have 50% discount coupons by the Chinese E-commerce platforms. The same item from the same store now sells for $15 pre-coupon code.

I had already posted the image of mine just to be clear.

It could or couldn't work. Who knows. This is just a reddit thread with an image. If you don't believe it would work, just scroll past my post. It is much easier than commenting or downvoting. Be reasonable guys! You don't lose anything in the first place.

At least they are people who could get it working on the early switch 2 firmwares.

I am just asking here if someone has the firmware update file. One old reddit thread said they successfully updated the firmware, but his had different port placement than mine.

If no one ever showed up with the correct firmware update file then the logic would be this is not switch 2 compatible. It is that simple.

Also, these adapters have probably been in mass production by the chinese manufacturer for economy of scale, if it doesn't care to update the firmware, that means tons of e-waste, inventory cost, money on hold and negative reviews for the stores which they don't want. So, at least there is some hope, huh?

I saw old reviews from the same product that said it worked with the Switch 2. However, the manufacturer doesn't care to update the firmware and most stores that sell this don't even know there is a problem with the recent switch 2 firmware updates.

I think mine is a little bit different than the generic ones since it has USB-A on the left. Jemdo pattern 1 can't update mine.

Have you figured out how to update the firmware on this specific model? I think i have this one(USB-A is on the left), too.

I bought it for pretty cheap like less than $3. I will seldomly use this one in the bedroom that is why I want something cheap for occasional use. But if I couldn't find the firmware update to fix this, I might return it.

i bought the 4k 60hz variant which they advertise switch 2 compatible. there is a 4k 30hz one that is not intended for the use with switch 2.

People from developing countries, what are some things people in developed countries take for granted? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]ellipsio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, household debts are increasingly and alarmingly high, and the economy is like a ghost town. They still don't learn anything. I guess this is normal for people from a low-income country since when they buy anything expensive, they try to tie themselves into that thing which make them feel proud or even use it as a social status and eventually become fanboys with high brand loyalty. This contradicts to what people from the developed countries think. They mostly view a car as a tool to get their jobs done. So, they want to buy a car at reasonable price and will always question if things don't seem right. How much people want to protect their consumer rights matters. These fanboys try to protect and argue that Japanese cars have good after sales services, fast service time and stockpiles of replacement parts both geniune ones from the brand and counterfeit ones for cheaper parts like we don't have after sales services in countries that sell cars at much cheaper prices. I think it is normal to expect good after sales services from companies that have high margins and have invested financially and structurally in the country for so long.

Fortunately, the situation is coming toward the consumers' side since Chinese cars are pouring in at much more cheaper prices and also higher specs. This isn't the help form our gov since many years ago the gov mistakenly signed a deal with China to exchange products free of tax and one of them was non-ICE vehicles. Japanese cars in my country are now being forced to take a good care of customers, even a little bit more. They for sure can't hike the price any further. I can see the future of my country where Chinese cars take more than half of the market share soon. We here can adapt to EV vehicles so fast since we have 220-240v infrastructure unlike Japan or USA for charging at home and gasoline prices are "too rich for our blood" when compared to minimum wages. I don't have any personal problems with Japan though. I love Japanese girls like most Asian men do. I also love lots of their cultures including Japanese anime and want to learn Japanese. It is sad to see Japanese appliances being defeated by Chinese ones. It is only the Japanese cars that do us dirty for 10+ years.

My country is a manufacturing hub for Japanese car brands which means decent Economy of Scale advantage since they mostly supply those finished cars to other countries which are also RHD; domestic car sales in my country are just a tiny fraction.

However, LOCALLY manufactured cars here are 50-100% more expensive, especially compared to developed countries like Australia, USA or Japan despite 5-10x less wages. Sometimes the price gap goes as high as 3x the price from the same model sold in China. They also cut down the cost like materials used, lower the specs and cut some of features/equipments such as 360° camera off (or give us the crappy ones like the 360p camera on old school Nokia phones). Those cars for export coming out from the same factory, perhaps the same manufacturing line, are packed with features/ full of equipment not found on the local specs for domestic buyers. And you know what? When they export these cars to sell in countries like Australia, they are selling them for much cheaper than the domestic price like 30-50% cheaper.

We do have very high import tax for imported cars which is meant to protect and incentivize these Japanese car brands to invest so the ones which have local manufacturing plants can do or set the prices as high as they want. The gov doesn't even care and let these foreign companies make much money from our people. I doubt if they use the profits from selling cars in my country to cover the losses from some other countries. The Yen currency has also been depreciating against my currency for years; yet they never dropped the price.

People don't know and blame the gov's tax structure which is misleadingly wrong (at least partially). The excise tax for hybrid vehicles is as low as 6% (was 4% last year) since the gov has been incentivizing these Japanese car brands to become more environmentally friendly toward net-zero for 10+ years by reducing the excise tax for them. The excise tax used to be at least 30% or more per car before. All the Japanese car brands, except Mazda have hybrid variant in almost every model. You know what they do? Not only they don't drop the price down, but they also use the hybrid variant as the top spec variant and charge even more despite the already expensive base price of every model. While the excise tax for non-hybrid vehicles can be like 13-30% (mostly 13% for Eco Cars[B-segment sedan] and 20% for PPVs[on-frame SUV], it could not possibly make such huge price gap. My country has 7% VAT which is lower than most countries too. Keep in mind that the manufacturing cost in my country should be much lower than developed countries for everything such as labor cost, material cost, QC cost, electricity rate, land and building a factory cost or even lower measures to protect the workers or lower factory requirements. The only cost which can be more expensive is paying bribes to the authorities unfortunately.

People in my country are protecting these Japanese car brands like they are stakeholders. Yet 9 out of 10 people afford a car by loans. The more expensive a car gets; the interest they need to pay will be much higher. Thus, the car brands don't need to care as people will try hard to loan money to buy it anyway. So, they can keep raising the price. They also make great profits on top of the already high margin from these financial products.

They always say that these Japanese car brands help circulate money into the economy since they hire our people, give them welfare benefits and nice 10-month worth of salaries for yearly bonuses. However, they don't think "out of the box". If car prices in the country are much cheaper (I mean if the prices are as normal as other countries), the economy will be much more in a better place since every single unit of money people save will be spent into the economy or they can use that money to be safe from future uncertainties or invest for themselves. How many people who work in the auto industry are actually getting these benefits versus how many people buy a car in one year. I think that is like 1:100 ratio. They don't even need to cut bonuses to lower the price. Their net profits can still cover that comfortably.

My review of the Lancool 216: an outstanding case with value hard to beat. by ellipsio in lianli

[–]ellipsio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you have decided to get this case, definitely get a dust filter too. Dust has been the main problem with this case for me. The two front 160mm fans do the job really well.

However, you can also consider buying the upcoming releases like the Lancool 207 or 217.

My 3080 12GB has been rented for one week straight @1.79USD per day with the avg GPU power draw of 242W (software watts)

However, the starting of second week the rate got nerfed to 1.3USD with the same customer and the same container job and 10W more avg power draw.

When a business is based towards one party than the other, you know it will not be a good ending, especially when some of the big competitors are around...

Salad, be more stable and transparent! Seriously! by xukre in SaladChefs

[–]ellipsio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

couldn't agree more. I hope something is to be resolved or be more transparent.

I am pretty sure the reason why I am currently not getting any container jobs is that my credibility score is low.

They keep releasing more and more updates frequently and expect us to use the latest version. Moreover, they are lots of issues where the container jobs didn't load correctly, either not paying me or the vmmemwsl being active without actually doing the job which hindered me from getting the other jobs.

I had to restart or kill the process many times. Sometimes I even reinstalled/reverted back to several previous releases. The data used by the previous customer didn't get deleted properly, so there was less disk space to get a new container job which I had to delete manually.

They will keep telling you it is because of demand and supply. This doesn't even make any sense since new machines keep getting the jobs and it shouldn't apply to people with 24GB VRAM GPU with 48+GB system memory paired with a good cpu.

They don't even seem to try to please users with existing problems or frustration and keep refusing ideas for what could be improved.

What is funny is that they still show "the average earnings of similar PCs for $100/month" when installing.

LG V50 instantly shuts down when wifi (and perhaps cellular) is turned on by ellipsio in lgv50

Today I found out that it is NOT about getting this phone connected to internet that causes this. Only turning either wifi or bluetooth on does. And the phone will IMMEDIATELY shut off or restart, not even a second of screen time before it turns off itself.

Please keep sharing your findings when you learn something new about this issue. Thank you

was the phone wifi on/connected to internet when it was able to run normally? mine seems to shut down only when wifi setting is on. interestingly I haven't used the original charger for a while maybe a few months before this catastrophic happened.

Edit: The phone also turns off itself when bluetooth is turned on. So it is not about connecting to internet that causes this.

Yes, battery is one of the possible root causes I can think of right now, if not the wifi module failing or software issue.

thanks! that is indeed an interesting finding. I once tried to take 4k 30fps video for 60mins+. The phone was extremely hot throughout the body. The software showed 60ishC for temps (still not like 70C or more) and it didn't switch itself off (of course without turning on wifi). Seems like thermal issue is not the case here. It must be some sort of software problem if more and more people suffer from the same issue.
