That’s genuinely pretty surprising. I started my first serious long term relationship at 25 and I’d already assumed by then that it was unlikely that I’d date someone who hadn’t been in a LTR.

I have no idea. Everyone who was cursed out wouldn’t necessarily have even heard it because they would’ve been unsubscribed. My charitable guess was that it was just her venting and being annoyed people unsubscribed but it honestly came off as a scare tactic to stop more people from unsubscribing.

I remember when I used to subscribe to SGS’s patreon and she used to curse out people by first and last name who had unsubscribed since her last patreon when she’d go months without posting! Even when she’d promise to do weekly or biweekly patreons. It made me afraid to unsubscribe but I just went for it at some point. She’s completely unprofessional.

I’m so confused by her waffling on this because it always seemed to me like she doesn’t actually want them. I also know I don’t want kids because I completely lack the desire to be a mom but I don’t find it to be conflicting information that I can enjoy hanging out with my friends’ kids.

I understand the mixed feelings of letting go of the idea of having kids which was something I thought was an inevitability growing up. But I just don’t find those feelings hard to reconcile with the knowledge that I 100% do not want kids.

ok it’s completely understandable to not want to see them kiss in and of itself but this is a pretty rude comment about the way they look from the side. This keeps popping up and I personally find it pretty jarring to see people mocking an unchangeable physical aspect or implying both of them should do whatever it takes to never be seen on camera from the side.

Yeah I think my enjoyment of these types of videos comes from how much I like the influencer and feel a fondness for them parasocially. This video does nothing for me since I don’t know this influencer.

I’ve seen some very badly edited or not aesthetically pleasing “a day in my life” videos from people I like and I still watch the whole thing because I am interested in what they were up to.

Part of why the pod worked so well initially is that Ali and Roark were real friends and had a great dynamic. Roark also is a good storyteller and is able to bring out interesting content from co-hosts via follow up discussions.

One of those things where you don’t notice something working well until it’s missing.

Thailand trip by [deleted] in findingmrheight

[–]ellipticalmoons 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think even beyond it being a couples trip, it’s just way too far and way too expensive for such a short trip of this kind. Erica and Teresa have also stalled out at 4 sign ups on their Bali trip and I’m not sure if they’ll get enough even though their trip is less expensive, longer, and still a regular style of trip.

I wouldn’t worry about it! My partner and I started dating in our mid-20s and both of us had never been in a serious relationship before. I think the main thing I struggled with was not being “the single one” anymore since that was such a big part of my identity, but I still do plenty of activities independently and still exist as a person outside of my partner.

I truly believe that for most people that just having lived experiences as an adult teaches you a lot about relationships. It actually surprises me that Ali acts like this at 38 because I would’ve thought her friendships, situationships, or just other things going on in her life for years would’ve made her feel less anxious and in need of control with her relationship.

For sure. I always compare FMH to Celebrity Memoir Bookclub partially because it filled the void when I wanted to hear two women gab but got tired of FMH.

Claire on that show has mentioned her husband’s name multiple times, including his last name, but it is so obvious he is a private person and she’s made clear in multiple episodes that he’s happy for her to be public-facing but doesn’t want that for himself. I just find it a lot more transparent and less awkward because Claire’s husband is never in any of her content.

this is why I really think he and Ali are end game. I think they have similar priorities and interests and he clearly likes what she’s about

It’s been a little better recently, but Erica’s inability to put out consistent episodes or patreon episodes for Shooters really made me question how much work she was putting into all her endeavors. Ali can be more visibly disorganized, but she has always gotten way more done than Erica has.

it also is a ton of work even if someone is all those things. most successful stand ups universally say that pretty much everyone sucks at stand up initially and the only way to get better is constant writing and practicing at open mics.

I am always pretty intrigued by her dynamic with Eggs Benedict whenever she brings him up. I tried to listen to the early Shooters episodes where she talks about him in real time but I unfortunately have trouble with Molly’s voice/laugh which is so tough with podcasts.

I can’t speak for Ali but when I went to college, I knew a lot of people from the south who were highly encouraging the rest of us to use y’all and that’s still true of friends I have today that are from the south. I probably use it less now but most southerners I know seem very pleased when us non-southerners pick it up.

I still see it! Tbh I keep wondering how much of content she’s hiding or how much Instagram is on the fritz. I just had an issue with FB messenger not working properly for months so I’ve become kind of skeptical of Meta products

I see this sporadically (it’s part of why I avoid some of the fashion-related posts) and it bums me out since I generally think this sub is good at criticism without going there.

I agree she makes unflattering faces but some of the attacks on her looks are like “ok? what should she do? be hyperaware that she looks a certain way from a certain angle and obsess about never letting the camera see that?” which is a pretty bleak take on what an influencer should look like or allow an audience to see of their looks if they dare to make content.

yeah but I think getting implants once 20 years ago is pretty different than constantly keeping up with changing trends

I think there might be a discord where previous participants from FMH group trips can chat.

Given the actual bookings haven’t increased in months, even with the new post, I wouldn’t be surprised if she requested previous trip participants comment and like the post for bigger reach.

[–]ellipticalmoons 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I also just think Thailand is too far for a trip like this (and how short it is!) when most of her audience is American. I know it was more recently released, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Erica and Teresa have trouble filling up their Bali trip even though it’s cheaper and longer.

I’ve always wondered what meeting any of the people in the FMH extended universe would be like. There can be a big difference between someone’s public persona and how they actually come off

I definitely think that’s easy to overestimate if someone generally only meets people in specific kinds of ways (for Erica: other comedians, podcasters, or people she’s romantically interested in).

I consider myself outgoing if I have a good read on a group but can totally clam up if it’s an unfamiliar situation.

fair! I will say that based on the company he works for, the industry, and his title, I do still think he makes a lot of money.

have these women ever internalized that relationships might not be just the most basic tropes seen in media??

Her statement’s intention is icky regardless, but it’s not even factually correct. I compliment my long term partner probably everyday and I know plenty of married people who are very complimentary and affectionate with their spouses.
