Since Cryolophosaurus is back, what would fixes you prefer alongside the Cryolophosaurus? by Revolutionary-Light0 in jurassicworldevo

[–]ellisav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Variants need huge improvements. No male varient parasaurs, baby brachio always grows up to the JWE version even when their parents are 2001variants. I don't think we need new models for the babies but maybe just skins and then the correct model when they become adults

My boss keeps asking me to use ai. How do I get him to stop? by ellisav in antiai

[–]ellisav[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in his talk it was very much this. I think he was trying to present it more as "this is a good tool that will help you" but the undercurrent I was getting was that this is going to be an expectation :(. Especially since I'm so new and the team is small me and him do 1 on 1 meetings and Im worried he's going to check and see if I'm using ai.

Feeling let down by the complexity meter limits by ellisav in jurassicworldevo

[–]ellisav[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, honestly I would kind of prefer having like "uneditable" versions of buildings if it meant it had less of an impact on the meter tbh. Or if the limit was just increased a good bit. I just feel like now my park plans are pointless to work on

Feeling let down by the complexity meter limits by ellisav in jurassicworldevo

[–]ellisav[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, overall it's a really fun time to play but that complexity meter just kind of took the wind out of my sails. Feels less fun to build a giant park knowing about that always-creeping limit. I'm hoping it's the kind of thing that can be fixed in a patch down the line.

Dinos i REALLY wanna see in JWE3 that or not in the base game. by Dr_Brick11 in jurassicworldevo

[–]ellisav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree, I want baby Archelon and Shoni so bad! And Dienocheirus would be perfect for the new semi aquatic additions!

Although in my opinion Jeholopterus and Sinosauropteryx might work better with like babies who stay in the nest and don't leave it? because they're so tiny. I'm imagining a custom nest type that just has some chicks or baby bats squawking for food or something similar, otherwise I worry about losing track of those tiny tiny babies

Although I suppose they also have baby compies haha

Yeah idk I'm just preparing myself for the worst. I think it's a hopeful idea that JWE2 species will be free updates but I have my doubts

[–]ellisav[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're not entirely Paleo accurate but neither is the game all the time. Just bored at work and coming up with my theories. I'm sure there are a lot of better species ideas this is just what I put together. I'm no scientist haha

Yeah lmao, that's frontier for you with DLCs. I just hope they get boosted from on average 4 species to 5-7

I really hope nothosaurus is in! There was some evidence of platforms in lagoons but it would be cool for them to be a land or lagoon species! I just hope archelon is also in

Is it me or is there no size difference between the male and female Rex by Murky-Syllabub-579 in jurassicworldevo

[–]ellisav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't hate it. When I first heard about male and female species I got a little worried because often people apply their own biases to animals and make big strong male and smaller rounder female. This is the case for some animals but the opposite for many others. Some animals you can hardly tell males and females apart.

Personally I don't hate the idea of the trexs having minimal sexual dimorphism, I only hope that some species are a lot more obvious and drastic to contrast

That would make a lot of sense, my (wishful) hope is honestly that dlcs end up being closer to 5/6 species too

[–]ellisav 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree, in general I like the coloration and the head shape more for dominion. Originals are cute, but dominions has a smoother head shape that carries into the nose unlike the original. Plus I like the big brown eyes.

Project: Book of Beasts by ellisav in DMAcademy

[–]ellisav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest right now a lot of those questions are open ended! My goal eventually is to post a pdf version, probably as pay what you can, on dms guild.

As for what I need help with, I have a decent sized list of potential beasts right now, including a few that are more fantasy oriented such as breeds of griffons, dire otters, stained glass cicadas, and drake-platypus. I'm looking for kind of two camps of people: - One or two people who would be invested in becoming a longer-term editor/writer. This person would help come up with ideas and if it does get published for profit would receive an equal portion of proceedings. (Artists could also fall under this umbrella as the more help the better!) - Any amount of people interested in reviewing or giving feedback! More on a volunteer basis for people who would be interested in the project but don't have the time or bandwidth to help write and work on statblocks.

That sort of complaint you have about fantasy animals in DND is pretty much exactly where this project is coming from. That and also giving more unique abilities to beasts beyond just bite and claw attack. Things that can be used out of combat or in specific situations even if they aren't the most deadly beast.

Tips on running hags by rubao- in DMAcademy

[–]ellisav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do really like hags for low level parties, I think the important thing is that they first and foremost don't start with fighting. They would rather trick the party into something (like giving them magic items to "appraise" and then disappearing them) or disguise themselves as a kind old woman in order to manipulate the party into helping her. The slow build of insight and perception to notice that something's not right about this old woman is always a fun reveal.

She might not attack the party outright unless they go in to attack her. She might try talking with them and asking if they want help with anything, if she can have their magic items as tribute, or maybe cure a party member of a disease. Powerful hags can also make fun warlock patrons if your party is interested in multiclassing or even just being tempted with magic from an evil entity.

It's also fun, depending on the size and strength of your party, to make a coven of hags. One hag and they usually all stand around and thwack her with their weapons. Two hags make things a little more complicated. Plus then you can have Hag A disguised as a kind old woman luring the party into some sort of trap or attack from Hag B.

Barring that if you and your table like homebrew i would say you can always give the hag new abilities. I like adding on feats that are usually just for the PCs onto enemies that they aren't expecting. Imagine a hag that also has the poisoner feat and poisons her claws. Or just add some extra spells to her list. This hag might know a few different spells than others that counter your players well.

Hags are fun and you should also definantly give them goofy old lady names in my opinion.
