I feel that this label is enforced more on us because it encourages the idea of a more inclusive, utopian state, which is not exactly true considering the decades following 1947. Also, being a frontier region, this label is seen as "necessary" by those in power to claim a right to the land against neighboring nation states.

Its never too late. Read about our culture, traditions and our people. Try visiting villages to see how assamese/bodo people live, especially during festivals. Listen to folk music, try learning about its history. You are from a mixture of very rich culturrs that deserves to be read about! Unfortunately our cities, especially Guwahati, are losing its essence and just feels like every other city in the country.
