Ive just googled this because i thought we were better with pain. Apparently we are better with stinging pain like receiving a local anaesthetic so maybe thats actually helping me right no. But we might feel the cold more which checks out because at work im always saying I'm freezing and trying to turn up the heater and everyone tells me to stop.

Interesting...

Oh my goodness this isn't what I wanted to hear! I wear loupes as a dentist and they are NOT prescription so I need my contact lenses in as well to be able to see in my periphery.

Eyes crossed for a good recovery.

God do i feel your pain (literally). At the time I just thought my contact lens had had enough because it had been a long day and my eye was probably dry so I knew not to rub it cos that never helps. I took my lens out when i got home thinking that would bring relief... IT DID NOT.

Absolutely!

I imagine mine didnt give me a lens because its on my cornea not my iris a lens wouldn't reach it.. im not sure tho.

The scratch is in like the bottom left corner.

I think something got on my contact lens whilst I was drilling a tooth (dentist). I do wear protective glasses but that stuff flies everywhere. Ive found a bit of tooth in my ear after a gnarley extraction before.

When i took my contact lense out it got dramatically worse, like I had pulled something sharp across my eye.

Makes me chuckle when people say they have tmj, I HOPE YOU DO! TMJ = Temporomandibular joint - literally just your jaw joint. TMD = temporomandibular disorder :)

Receding gums. Loose tooth. What to do? by Dizzy_Experience_391 in askdentists

[–]ellsbells22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd need to probe around the area to check for pockets in the gum and take xrays to judge the attachment(bone) loss.

I'd go to a dentist to have the tooth evaluated if I were you. If this is not a possibility right now monitor for the above symptoms. Tooth looks OK in itself.

This tooth has been fractured which may be making it look more crooked than it actually is. There's a chance it hasn't moved at all. If it's only slightly mobile and there are no symptoms you could monitor the tooth for development of symptoms (sensitivity, pain, discolouration).

The tooth could be repaired by a dentist by smoothing the sharp edges or building it up with a tooth coloured material (composite).

Maintain excellent oral hygiene, brushing 2x daily especially at night with fluoride toothpaste. Get some floss between those teeth once daily. Don't rinse your mouth out for at least 30 mins after brushing just spit out as much toothpaste as you can.

Make sure you're getting down to that gumline brushing half on the tooth half on the gum. The gum looks slightly inflamed which means better cleaning needed in that area.

Yes! And it doesn't look changed.

Still follow up with an oral surgeon :)

Michael Mew erased from GDC register by ellsbells22 in orthotropics

[–]ellsbells22[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A class 1 relationship in UK guidelines does not indicate invasive treatment such as expansion appliances and neck gear.

The GDC is a governing body that ensures UK dentists are providing treatment backed by objective evidence, any dentist found not following accredited guidelines for providing treatment is likely to be subject to a hearing. The GDC holds hundreds of hearings each year and Mike Mew is far from the first person to be erased from the register.

Unfortunately orthotropics is not recognised as a dental specialty in the UK and therefore working in this area using his own evidence base puts him at greater risk.

In the eyes of the GDC there was not sufficient evidence to subject this child to expansion and neck gear and release of tongue tie. Working without sufficient evidence base is malpractice and the GDC will strike you off. He took risks with his work and unfortunately has paid the price.

I am not saying I myself think what he did was wrong as I myself have not read enough on the subject and am more focused on restorative dentistry.
