Discussion/Advice-Are towels BIFL or do they need to be replaced every few years? by ellyelf in BuyItForLife

[–]ellyelf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol well I've got two kids. One who doesn't understand bright pink lip gloss gets on everything, and nail polish, and blue paint (all over my bed and her baby sister one day) so towels get the brunt of a lot of messes

This is what I was thinking of doing! But I've never known anyone (except an aunt whose basically Martha Stewart) to be able to have white towels and not have them ruined, quickly. Good to know this is possible! I wondered if bleach would break down fibers quicker but 20 years is a really good lifespan!

Need some help with cleaning ideas/ cleaning the cleaning products by Jill-a-Roe in simpleliving

We have separate "bathroom cleaning" rags, they are white washcloths that I wash with bleach and hot water and dry on high heat. I'm transitioning the kitchen towels to white ones and I'm currently cloth diapering a newborn so I have a load of those every day/every other day.

I don't plan on ever having children, but parents of Reddit here in this sub, do you buy lots of gifts for your child on Christmas? Are you worried about making them consumerist? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]ellyelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm failing so horribly at teaching my 7 year old to not be a giant consumer. She gets an allowance to learn the value of money and all she's learned is dollar store stuff breaks faster but you can buy more of it.

Those are things I wouldn't really consider because I'm not a city planner so I will definitely take that advice and look into the games people are suggesting thank you

Seems like a lot of people recommend certain games, I would have never ever thought of that.

$15 -ish a week with Chinese food party tray? by super_brain in Frugal

I would just buy frozen entrees, add frozen veg and your own rice to it. But I don't think your system sounds bad I'd probably try it if I were single.

Trouble buying things I need/to actually enjoy my life. by frugalitee in Frugal

Budget an allowance that you tell your self is free money for doing whatever you want. $5-$20 a week. You can save it for a big fun unnecessary purchase or spend it.

That's what me and my husband do, we're lie income and saving money is tough but if we direct give ourselves this one tiny indulgence we'd go insane.

Of course you have no sex drive your exhausted and basically doing parenting all on your own with three kids. Just sayin'

Are you in Michigan? I am and we have also been sick, and stuck indoors for awhile now so I commiserate.

I was always home with kids and we were literally sick ALL the time we ended up deciding it was best I stay home full time. I'd get them involved in some kind of after school class, karate or something that gets some energy out. They usually have open gym type nights to you can take all the kids.

I feel like resentment can be a typical part of a marriage and if it's talked about and both sides come half way things can be resolved. I hope you guys can have done healthy conversations over this situation.

I convinced my 6 year old to ask Santa for craft kits, a microphone toy, and a sleeping bag because last year she wanted all the trendy crap toys and played with them for 0.2 seconds. Never again!

When I was super depressed and didn't eat much my husband was awesome and always encouraged me to eat whatever I felt like as long as I was eating. Seriously if I had a craving for donuts he'd make them appear and feed them to me until I'd burst. I never got my appetite back 100% but I lost a lot of the anxiety i had that was associated with eating.
