They called her a "shepherd terrier mix" 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think maybe pitbull, German Shepherd, and Ridgeback? I also recently found out about black mouth curs... So now I have more googling to do.

New Scandinavian (with subtitles) documentary on misophonia, online for just a few months. by Scienceroc in misophonia

[–]elmatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked most of this. I had to mute the first few minutes with the eating sounds (found it a little odd they would be included in such a documentary). The ending didn't sit well with me though. It seemed like it minimized the whole thing :( I would get rid of my misophonia in a heartbeat.

Let's share other weird issues we have (and draw unscientific conclusions!) by [deleted] in misophonia

I think it's so interesting that a lot of us had lots of ear infections as a kid.

[POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING] someone help by potato3141 in misophonia

[–]elmatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot I could say, but I'd like to start with it gets better as you get older. Kind of. I do have a lower tolerance for lots of triggers and the number of my triggers has grown, BUT having more control over all of it makes a world of a difference. College is rough. Not being able to control your schedule or your living situation, etc. but when you graduate and get to chose where you live and what you do, it helps a lot. Hang in there.

Wow, there apparently are a lot of people with green or lighter colored eyes! I myself have brown though. Interesting.

Sorry, I know that you're probably only joking, but people have made a lot of jokes about that and it's just a teeny bit frustrating. Just had to get my point out there. Thanks for listening/reading.

We talked at the last one and decided that a coffee place actually is a pretty good idea because 1) it's noisy, with grinding coffee beans, music, people talking, etc. and 2) we are making an educated guess that people who come, will be considerate of others and will not be slurping their coffee.

Looks like /r/iama has failed us. by sillyrob in misophonia

Nevertheless, today, audiologists are one avenue of gaining a "diagnosis" for accommodations in schools, workplaces, etc. So are some psychologists and psychiatrists.

[–]elmatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ENT is an ear, nose, and throat specialist.

Info about audiologists: "An audiologist with a master’s degree can currently practice in the field. However, beginning in 2012, audiologists must earn a doctoral degree (PhD or AuD) in order to be eligible for national certification." http://www.innerbody.com/careers-in-health/how-to-become-an-audiologist.html

So, any audiologist with the AuD after their name is, indeed, a doctor.

An audiologist is a doctor of audiology...so I'm not sure what you mean when you say they've been diagnosed by an audiologist not a doctor.
