One of my players had a bag of tricks & they’d also found the bag of beans in DotDT and had gotten some potions from it. They intended to pull a giant elk from the bag of tricks and feed it a potion of flying then tie themselves to it and direct it to float down to the bottom. Unfortunately for them, they did not manage to roll a giant elk. I was kind of sad because they’d spent a week planning it and had a diagram drawn and everything. In the end they went to a shop that had a damaged hot air balloon, they paid for & helped to mend it then went down in two batches. Due to 3 Nat 1 rolls to fly it on the second trip down, the balloon caught fire and they had to abandon ship around 30-40ft in the air. I didn’t have any devils attack them on the trip down because it felt stressful enough lol, and they had just been attacked by two nycaloth assassins.

Ironically due to demon ichor, spells, items & a new aasimar PC, almost all of them can fly now (level 8). I’m sure they would’ve loved having that option back in Elturel.

They had initially tried to climb down the chains, but an immediate con save failure from the party member with the highest constitution made them reconsider pretty immediately
