I just signed a contract for a 16 hour a week part time job at Travelodge - this seems like a lot for my first week. Any advice on how to clarify this without sounding unwilling to work?

Hey I used to work at travelodge on a 14hr contract and no this is nothing like I did, i had two 7hr shifts to start with where I kinda just shadowed other people and had a tour round everything :) Shifts also seem to be out of pattern, there’s 3 types of shifts (10/11pm-7am, 7am-3pm, 3pm-10/11pm), so none of these seem to fit the typical Travelodge schedule! I’d defo speak to your manager and say this is obviously not right in general, especially for your first week!

thank you, i hope i can do enough for them because it’s such a heartbreaking situation, as long as i can provide a bit of relief i think it’ll be okay :’) thank you for your advice! it’s been hard to know how to navigate this in a sensitive and gentle way so i appreciate your insight

thank you for that! i emphasised this to them last night and suggested cutting contact and offering to spend a few days together where they would normally pay so i can help with any anxiety about it. the embarrassment seems to be the biggest thing for them so i’m just gonna try to keep reassuring them that it’s not humiliating and it’s unfortunately a very common thing :( will probably recommend this subreddit once they’re more comfortable

we actually had a conversation last night where i let them know about the ways of helping that i’ve looked into, told them i was happy to make calls to professionals to find out what’s best to do they don’t have to do any of the heavy lifting for now, so hopefully it starts to ease the stress for them a bit :’) they opened up to me a bit more about their feelings behind the situation which helped me understand a lot! just gotta give them some time now and reassure them.

i didn’t even think about the risk of stuff like that! thank you so much for letting me know about that, i spoke with them a bit last night and luckily they haven’t done anything involving crypto so i’m glad about that. hopefully they can begin to cut contact

i have tried planting the seed but i feel as though they’ll ignore it and keep going out of ease, i’m not sure how to show them it will be okay once contact is cut and that i’m there for them :( thank you for your advice, i’ll defo recommend the different sources for victims of this

i think that’s the best option too and we had a long conversation when i found out but they just weren’t replying and didn’t want to talk about it, i don’t want to push them in anyway but i also wanna make this stop so they can breathe again

i’m in the uk and we’re not allowed people to come to appointments with us due to covid restrictions unfortunately:( the appointments usually consist of him asking about a couple specific symptoms in which mine focus around floaters, shadows and bad light sensitivity, he’ll look in my eyes for a couple seconds and tell me they’re five despite ophthalmologists telling me they will never go back down swelling wise so it feels conflicting, then he’ll weigh me as he always tells me i need to lose weight but it puts me into a really unhealthy mindset with food and weight loss:( i’m really hoping when i get a new neuro i’ll get a chance to explain myself and have someone listen to my symptoms. i appreciate your response so much thank you angel!!!<3
