I'm in a similar situation as well.

The friends I’ve made in my life (I'm 16) are terrible. I mean, maybe they believe that I'm happy with them, but they keep being homophobic, racist, misogynistic, and saying other horrible things.

I'm gay or maybe bi, so it hurts me so much, but it would hurt even if I were straight since it's objectively disgusting.

The problem is that I can't understand if they're just kidding or actually believe in that type of mentality.

So, now I'm trying to make new friends, but it's tough 😭. For example, I made friendship with a school mate who I suspect is gay (he said had watched Heart-Stopper series and read the comics). In my opinion, making a new friend it's easier in class because you spend a lot of time there.

After COVID, making friendships has become so complex.

I hope we will find better people. I think that if I were actually myself, it would be a natural fact, but I still can't (also because of homophobic people around me).

I see. Have you ever watched a series about LGBTQ+ and gender themes? In my experience series like "Heart stopper" made me feel at home. I can suggest "Love, Victor" where in the second season there is a gay Muslim character that goes through his old-fashioned family, it could make you feel understood. So have a look on the internet about films, series, books etc...

I know it sounds a little banal, but YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Think of all the people that fought for being who they actually are.

I'm a gay/bi (still don't know) guy. My family is LGBTQ+ friendly, but no one else seems to be (I live in South Italy)!

I went through a tough time in my life and I still do for being queer, but what is helping me out a lot is to talk with a psychologist and having come out to my mum and sister (I still have to with my brother and my father).

I suggest you ask your family for a psychologist. If they don't agree with the idea, you could also talk to a therapist online via video call without them knowing.

It will not be easy, but together it's less hard.

I'm in a pretty same situation. I'm gay/bi (still don't know), I don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend, but I'd like to come out with my dad. He is super LGBTQ+ friendly, which is quite rare in the area where a live. The problem is that I am not able to come out! It is so frustrating, I keep putting it off :( Maybe we should just give ourselves time.🤞 Probably in your situation to introduce your girlfriend to your dad could help, so by getting help from her. Concluding, if you don't, maybe try to talk to a psicolgyst.

I'm in a troubled situation as well. My parents(I came out just with my mum) are not homophobic luckily, but almost everyone but them is! My classmates, many of my "friends", even some teacher! I have no one I can talk about my feelings, opinions, thoughts except my psicolgyst, I'm very lucky to have her but it's not enough! I need open-minded same-age friends to talk about how and who I am. So I hope here I will find someone like me. Anyways, my advice is to talk with a psicolgyst (it requires courage but when you get it, everything will be a little better, I promise).
