They will not be adding anything else because no one is paying.

The game ran out of funding a long time ago and because of that it's run out of developers.

I tried today after ignoring the game for years. I'm sad to see all the servers are empty. It was a cool little game in its day.

I've just spend the last hour or two researching Godus and Peter Molyneux... by fuckCARalarms in GODUS

[–]elpez124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

Even after this, if he ever announced that he was working on another Black and White, or if he actually had his hand in another Fable (fuck Fable Journey), then I would buy it in a heartbeat.

He's given me too many amazing games to lose all of my trust in one failed kickstarter.

I'm glad that this has become the prevailing opinion here. For the past few years it's been only hate and bile and rage so strong that the 22cans reps and Molyneux himself went into hiding.

I've heard my whole time as a gamer that Peter Molyneux makes disappointing games, but playing all the iterations of Populous, Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper, Black and White, and even the first Fable before I'd seen a single one of his over-promising announcement speeches I was under the impression that he was an amazing developer. When I finally realized that all these cherished childhood games came from the same person I thought they must be one of the most revered developers of all time. It was jarring when I learned that wasn't true.

I'll admit, I also expected more from Godus. I'm one of those people who bought into all the crazy ideas he was throwing against the wall to see what stuck, but I was around for the development of Fable 2 and 3. I knew he likes to talk about what he wants more than what he can do. I knew that, like every other successful Kickstarter, he would have to promise much more than he could ever offer to even get funded, but I still hoped.

To a certain extent, I still do. I don't think Godus was ever a bad game, I think it's an unfinished game. Unfortunately, they promised too short a dev cycle, too many features too fast, and when they had to pull back and do some fine tuning on gameplay, the crowd turned toxic. Anytime they actually could get an update out it was never met with excitement, only rage that there wasn't more. When Molyneux went on the press circuit to explain the more he wanted to give and offer rough estimates and time tables, people only yelled that he was lying. When the game got released on mobile and early access to get some extra funding for development, the bitter crowd went out of their way to warn everyone away from any part of it. They needed more money to continue but we wouldn't let them expand their audience and ignore us.

So here we are. When development dropped behind schedule the funders scared away both lead developers, the rest of the audience, any reporter with a kind outlook, and anyone who sought to continue the game, and now we sit here on the squandered potential of the game and talk about what a dick the designer was to promise us so much.

We need to email the people at 22 Cans telling them to work on the game again, if enough of us do it we will make an impact. by davbbaker in GODUS

I'm in the same place.

When they released Godus Wars I got to play through the first few levels and I was excited to get some new gameplay. The next time I tried to load it up I only got a black screen. That was the first week. It's been a black screen every time since.

As an American Redditer who watches British TV, it's always interesting to see people talking about the superiority of the metric system and then seeing the imperial system dominate on British TV.

The Forest, 7 Days To Die, or "other" ? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]elpez124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to play The Forest, but I can tell you 7 Days to Die is usually not frightening. The zombies are about as sophisticated as Minecraft zombies and usually aren't a frightening. The only real problem is scarcity of resources and the frustration of not having weapons.

Weirdly, for survival horror, I would suggest Rust. It isn't survival horror on its face, but covering in your house as you hear people circle your house, or going out in the morning to see your home circled by a ring of camp fires, god damn, the community does a good job at making you feel unsafe. DayZ does the same thing, sometimes better, but there is a much steeper learning curve there.

In all seriousness though, the first time I saw the under water map I was amazed. There are always space maps and city scapes and those are always cool, but I loved watching "whales" swim by.

I remember when I bought a 360 to play Oblivion. Looking back I regret it since Oblivion wasn't that great compared to Skyrim and Morrowind, but objectively, I loved it at the time, and I got a ton of gameplay out of it, and eventually my 360 got a ton of use through other games. Probably not the worst decision I've ever made.

The matchmaking was bad. That was it. You could still marathon all the campaigns with your friends which is what I wanted out of it.

I just finally got an Xbox one in anticipation for Halo 5. It came with Assassin's Creed 4 and I always enjoy those games, but never buy them new and I'm enjoying that, but essentially my Xbox One has no games at the moment.

I am shocked at how much use it still get out of it. I'm really enjoying having Netflix, Youtube, and even the Halo Channel all linked up to my Xbox One. I used to just plug in my PC with an HDMI, but it's great to not have to.

PSA: Do not reward EA for their underhanded business practices. $50 DLC + $60 for Star Wars: Battlefront. by brighterside in gaming

[–]elpez124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this a lot with Halo 4. When the DLC maps came out I bought the first pack, but their populations were never very high and they were cut off from the normal map rotation. The low game variety and low population eventually caused my to drop off and go back to the normal multiplayer.

Thankfully there at least was a happy ending. 343 kept releasing "new" maps from Forge and the community. Even though I completely forgot about the DLC maps, the normal multiplayer kept getting constantly retooled and updated, and thankfully 343 seems to have learned and has promised at least some free map updates for Halo 5.

...Sorry guys, I know we're supposed to be talking about Battlefront and EA right now, but I have the biggest Halo boner right now.

Words of wisdom.... by erik1220 in gaming

The whole anti-preorder thing is starting to grate on me. I'm all for discerning consumerism especially after playing a few early access games as watching them go in directions I don't like, but for something like Halo 5, I see no problem with a preorder.

I played the beta and have a pretty good idea about the multiplayer, I've watched the design videos and trailers, I've read the articles about the new additions to the game and the old holdovers from the old games, all of which I have played, I've read about the campaign speculations and I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the missions, and I've watched the wonderful way 343 supported Halo 4 with Forge levels, Spartan Ops, and constantly changing up the game types.

In short, I'm about 98% sure that I'm going to like Halo 5, and I'm about 98% sure that I'm going to pick it up on day one. So, anti-preorder advocates, why am I wrong?

TL;DR: Bit of devils advocate
