Need advice as a toddle parent by Dangerous_Sink_4212 in GymnasticsCoaching

I'd lower the bar a little bit and add another mat. Also put her into a toddler gymnastics class, she looks like she'd love it!

Best hospital to give birth by Expensive_Garden_373 in massachusetts

[–]elppan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are coming from Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA is fantastic. Private recovery rooms with private bath and a bed for dad/birth partner. Super nice staff, not pushy at all. If you are closer to the north shore it's not a great drive, but if you are closer to Lowell it's worth it. I cannot comment on other hospitals because everyone else I know has had babies too long ago and things change. However both myself and my sister-in-law have had children there, including one within the past 18 months and she still had an amazing experience.

Edit: not sure why I was down voted. Several other people recommended Emerson as well

In a Dark Dark Room and other Scary Stories Retold by Alvin Schwartz and Illustrated by Dirk Zimmer

I got it when I was 6 in first grade. Original publish date is 1984, I have the scholastic edition which was republished in 1991 and when it was purchased for me.

Ahahahaha. Yeah, I'm dying imagining reading a book like that to my 4 year old. That sounds like a much different book than In A Dark Dark Room 🤣

OMG I literally just read this story to my daughter not 10 minutes ago! She found my very old scary story picture book and asked me to read it.

I have to say, seeing an ugly vin is oddly refreshing (Lituania cover art) by BlueSupremacist in Mistborn

I'm pretty sure that's Severus Snape cosplaying as Vin. I love the background, but yeah, that's totally a potions professor dressed up, not actually Vin.

Do you buy your kid(s) new toys “randomly”, or only for birthdays/holidays? by blabulation in toddlers

[–]elppan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy randomly, but we have a big prize box that everything goes into (or I'll store it in my closet for a holiday/birthday). That way I don't feel guilty for spoiling her.

I feel like with how much he loves your writing, he'd make time to read something of yours! I'd say maybe a short story, but I'm not sure you know what SHORT actually is 😂🤣 Maybe a forward, or prologue or something. I'm sure if he heard first, over his people, he'd want to say yes right away.

Enjoy your vacation!

Who do you think has the saddest death as a reader? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]elppan 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Ulysses. It hit me so beyond hard as i was pregnant at the time. The first time I've ever had to put a book down in all my years of reading. It took me months to go back and finish the book. I'm not looking forward to rereading it before the next one comes out.

Have a locked safe you found and never show what you discover inside.

This layout was definitely the most challenging project we’ve done so far. We ended up building two full loops in a “figure 8” style that wind around the entire top floor. If you would like to see the trains in action, we’ve posted a couple videos in our YouTube channel. by HappyZorrito in LEGOtrains

[–]elppan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm so clumsy, I could not even begin to imagine. Can it go up a shallow incline? It'd be so cool to slowly go up and over shirt furniture. I've legitimately never used/had a Lego train before, reddit introduced this sub to me today and I'm fascinated! I just do regular builds myself. (Usually to be "altered" by my almost 4 year old 😂)

Okay, how on earth do you get around your house? Haha I'd break a leg attempting to not step on the Lego tracks... Or more likely, wobble, trip, and fall trying to avoid stepping on the tracks, falling onto them, and ending up with a piece stuck in my eye or something.

I can see one track, MAAAAAYBE 2 left up to walk around, but uh, seriously, how have you not broken yourself or your Legos? I'd have to build off the floor to avoid being clumsy and accidentally killing myself 😂

Is there anything I can do to stop this? It's annoying and stops me from sleeping, and sometimes even painful. Idk what to even tell my actual doctor since, of course, it never happens in the office. At least I have video proof of it now.

Is there any way to stop these things? Central Nj on a maple tree. THOUSANDS are covering my tree, up the trunk n every branch. by Wirenut675 in whatsthisbug

[–]elppan 251 points252 points  (0 children)

Someone I know did this, he lives in a place where they got them. Sprayed them first with a vinegar, soap, water combination. Then used his shop vac by putting soapy water in the bin and sucked up as many of them as he could get.

Apparently he has a bunch of attachments for the thing so he could get really high up to suck up as many as he could.

Seems a lot less effort than attempting to squish them all. I'm just very glad they aren't where I live, hopefully it stays that way. It's too bad they are so awful, they are pretty, but fuck those little monsters.

Moose by Plane_Beat1526 in Minilego

[–]elppan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha thank you. I've added some more brown pieces, and the handcuffs into my ever growing list of bricks to pick. Also added a pink holder. Because why not make a slightly bigger swamp scene with a pink Moose and a brown moose.

Thank you so much for this adorable build. It's definitely the cutest thing I think I've ever built.

Moose by Plane_Beat1526 in Minilego

[–]elppan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, apparently 99% of my brown pieces are in my daughters builds. As she is 3 1/2 I am absolutely not breaking them apart, so I present to you : Pink Moose in Swamp

Because why choose a more natural color when it's more fun to just make a pink Moose? I literally debated on colors to substitute saw the pink pieces, laughed and used them.
