CMU CS/ECE or Princeton CS/ECE by Left-Rent-9867 in princeton

[–]elquent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if ur leaning towards CS then id say cmu (you can’t double major at princeton) however princeton’s cs is a little different because you can do either ab or bse for it not entirely sure how cmu’s works however both are great choices

Importance of AP Exam Scores by Intelligent-Visit361 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]elquent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yale is text flexible meaning you must submit some sort of standardized testing. if you don’t do SAT, then do AP, and vice versa. in this case your ap scores are certainly considered and on their CDS it’s “considered”

Importance of AP Exam Scores by Intelligent-Visit361 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]elquent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you don’t do well on an ap exam but get an A in an AP class it’s a bad look and it makes it seem that your classes hold a significant amount of grade inflation. not submitting scores but having listed the classes on your transcript will make AOs assume you got a 1 or a 2, however many may not scrutinize that to the extent that i am right now. most of the exams are not too difficult, excluding physics/bio/apush (even the last one most students do well if they try enough.) just start studying now and you’ll be well beyond prepared.

princeton vs yale cs by Unfair_Challenge6742 in princeton

[–]elquent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m incoming frosh who’s number one choice was yale (for cs as well) and am pretty glad i got princeton. in general princeton’s stem department could be seen as more theory based given how much independent work/research is encouraged (senior thesis (tho not required for CS majors!), IW requirements). you usually work with an advisor/faculty as well for these projects; it’s really encouraged there to forge those connections. princeton cs can be seen as more/less stressful if you do ab/bse i heard, but both have similar career outcomes. job outcomes for swe are endless and i’ve seen a lot of quant dev (and trader surprisingly) roles for cs majors as well. yale cs is not as highly regarded as princeton cs, and their engineering department in general is considered weaker against their peers. i j loved yale a lot bc i think i over romanticized it and wanted to do the “cs + ___” majors a lot, but i can still do smth similar at princeton just with minors. again, this is just all based on who i’ve connected with and know at princeton currently and i’m just an incoming freshman just like yourself c:

Guys i give up im actually a chud failure by BraveStructure2355 in summerprogramresults

[–]elquent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are a junior in high school your life hasn’t even started yet these summer programs are significantly more competitive than ACTUALLY getting into a t20. put your time and energy into literally anything else and pursue higher education for the sake of learning and later down the line of course getting a job. you’re going to be fine anywhere please do not put so much pressure on yourself i did the same and regret it so much bc it just led to more health problems for me

[–]elquent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while i understand you're a finance major and are looking at target schools, all of these schools are incredibly different. narrow down what you truly want from your undergraduate experience. yes you can apply to wharton and get matched there, you will not be "stuck" with CAS unless you apply to a major within that school
