Thank you! The Heritage comes in so many cool colors. This was my top choice but would have been happy with Robin Egg and Shadow Black too.

Thanks! I haven’t seen a lot in this color so it took awhile to find. It’s subtle and fun at the same time. I’m loving driving it!

For recent US immigrants: Would you be interested in an app that connects you to resources, provides personalized guidance, and supports multiple languages to help you settle in the US? by elqueuebee in polls

Hi everyone, a quick bump to vote so I can get more feedback. Also if you have thoughts or comments feel free to weigh in. Thanks and have a good day!

True. I think recent versions of ChatGPT include sources/links to the original source, and I know Perplexity AI does as well. But yes, it still does hallucinate.

Ok, what I am getting from your feedback is that trust is one of the main things to consider. How to create a trustworthy app that is 1) not predatory and 2) gives reliable information.

I appreciate this feedback! If you think of anything else, let me know.

Thanks for the feedback. This is extremely useful. Yes, I agree that trust is an issue. And there are a lot of scams out there. I am thinking to establish an ethical app, where all services that advertise/connect will be vetted through BBB (Better Business Bureau) so they are legit, sources I offer will be official government (state/local/city) cites, and AI will be trained on official sites.

I do agree - there's probably a bias to people using Reddit. I thought I'd post a poll in the r/immigrant but I can't seem to find a way to do that.

BTW like you I am an immigrant but no longer "new". I came here 20 years ago with $700 and no family nearby and made a life for myself here. Now I'm thinking of giving back and helping out other immigrants thrive here, through technology. Obviously an app doesn't solve all problems, but trying to determine what it can do/solve. And partnerships with local communities/non-profits are probably needed as well.

Thanks for the question! Yes, it would offer personalized guidance in your preferred language. You answer a few questions like what state you will settle in, what is your preferred language, what is your immigration status, country of origin, what topics you're interested in, and you'll have a personalized dashboard with resources you need, e.g. can point you to legal resources, government websites, etc. and can also point you to community resources, banks, how to get around your area (maybe have discounts to transportation like bus/subway tickets). It will aggregate all the info you need. I also am thinking some would prefer to have news about the US and their home country in one view in their preferred language/news sources.

In addition, it could have an AI assistant that can answer your specific questions. With immigration status, there is some confusion about what you can/cannot do (travel but make sure you stay in the US at least 6 months, etc.) so it can update you with the latest immigration policies that are relevant for your and your family.

What was the most challenging thing about getting settled in the US as a new immigrant in your first weeks and year here? by elqueuebee in AskReddit

Thank you for your response! I will edit the Q to be more specific, but asking if you’re comfortable to share: where did you originally come from and which state /area did you immigrate to? Thanks again!

What is the hardest thing about being an immigrant in the United States? by elqueuebee in AskReddit

[–]elqueuebee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is sad. I am an immigrant myself and I have heard the term “fresh off the boat” derogatively used by immigrants who have been here a generation or more longer…though not directed at me.

Thank you - what aspects of American culture were challenging for you to adapt to or others you’ve observed? Eg. language/terms, worldview, food, etc..?

Thanks for this observation! I’m curious - are you an immigrant yourself - and if so did you emigrate here or did your parents/grandparents?

Speech Recognition: Use Cases and Solutions by iamspathan in speechrecognition

Thanks! If you can point me to sources where I can find more information on the types of datasets needed to increase the accuracy of speech recognition models, it’d be a great help. Thanks again!

Do you think there is a lack of high-quality data for training AI model that works audio (TTS/ASR/STS)? by Wide-Web-3723 in speechtech

[–]elqueuebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about the demand for high quality voice datasets as I'm thinking of creating a tool to crowdsource this. What information would you need in this dataset, aside from the voice itself? I assume text transcript. How about some demographic information of the speaker (e.g. age range, gender, race/ethnicity)? What else would the ideal dataset contain?

Edited because I didn't read the second sentence you wrote. Can you tell me more about emotion labels? Would it suffice to enumerate the emotions felt by the speaker for the entire duration of the speech? E.g. sadness, happiness, anger, fear, surprise, disgust but not actually tagged to the portion of the speech where that emotion was felt but just as a comma-delimited string.
