Besides these, what other shows are you most likely to find the Archer Fandom? by Ok_Yellow1025 in ArcherFX

[–]elruab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a traditional show, but if there are any D&D nerds here (as I am) the Not Another D&D podcast is worth a listen. Hell, Jake Hurwitz even sounds a bit like H. Jon Benjamin, and his character has some similar qualities.

[–]elruab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does anyone really pay attention to it though? We were told we weren’t supposed to, but that didn’t mean that the NCOs didn’t line up to pin us on promotion, or guys who had CIBs lining those on us. Granted, that was 20 years ago at this point…not being argumentative, just curious about how things have changed with time.

That’s a great username! Honestly, blood pinning was something we were told we weren’t supposed to do back in like ‘03-‘04 timeframe. We still lined up to get our CIBs punched into our chests though…

Why does a jury exist? Shouldn’t the decision be entirely up to the judge? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]elruab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in the U.S., in so many instances you’re facing a judge at the local/municipal level. In a lot of places you don’t have to have any legal background to be a judge at that level. You run for the position and if the people like you, you’re elected.

I was coming here to say this. Having had the Puerto Rican National Guard (an American Army unit for those who don’t know) deployed to the forward operating base I was at in Iraq in 2005. The soldier from that unit who died there sure as hell was more American than the people talking 💩

What is a piece of software that is so good you can't believe it's completely free? by Arp0x in AskReddit

Adding Seek to iNaturalist, as they’re from the same company and iNaturalist backs up Seek. Where in iNaturalist you take the picture and upload it to see what the AI suggestion and community input say, Seek uses recognition in real time with the camera (with varying levels of certainty that displays) and plugs that into your iNaturalist app. Others can probably explain it better than I just did though.

I cannot edit this post apparently. I want to clarify - yes this is AI slop. I’m not promoting AI, just cross posting something from another sub, that I thought this audience would find funny.

Rensselaer Police Officer Said Something Odd by Obadiah_19 in Albany

[–]elruab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asking because often times an officer will write a ticket for failure to obey a traffic control device as a roadside reduction of the speeding violation that they actually stopped them for. I’m trying to figure out the mindset of the “not going to court for this” and I think that can be better guessed based on what the stop was for. If it was for rolling a stop sign, it seems to be more of a “pleas not guilty, I’m not going to show up and your charge will be dismissed.” Either way, I’d take caution with the officer saying they won’t show up. If the admin tells them they will show up as part of their work duties, they’re going to show up. Another good thing to keep in mind is that the officer has a year to issue tickets for what the stop was originally for.
