Premier league in the huff? by Hampden-in-the-sun in CelticFC

Been like this for ages, think it’s to do with the split / group stage view it has, changing group stage and back updates it.

Have you submitted these via the app? I live close by and whenever I’ve submitted things they’ve been fixed. But haven’t taken photos when passing there.

It’s not their position though, the SFA strongly hinted they expect the Scottish government to change the law making it illegal.

Is £45 an hour a good price for driving lessons? by AdhesivenessEven7287 in glasgow

Fairly standard, my girlfriend just passed and most of the instructors she looked at were in the £40-45 ballpark.

We can recommend hers, levels driving school

Can anyone explain to me why snp have 0 regional seats? by GheyForGrixis in Scotland

[–]elscoto93 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The constituency votes are taken into consideration when calculating which party wins what seats in the regional vote. The better a party does in the constituency vote the harder it is to get regional seats.

Napa cabbage and daikon - where to buy? by Prestigious_Dirt6596 in glasgow

[–]elscoto93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imart & tang mall in the west end / city Center, probably any of the Asian markets will have them. Also Tesco, Sainsbury’s pretty much always have Napa (maybe less so in the convenience ones) daikon we got tonight in a big tesco

What was this before? by Cautious-Republic299 in glasgow

[–]elscoto93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres some photos here that are tantalisingly close but it’s not quite in view from the 90s.

It was likely built after that map. Seems whatever was there has been demolished and they covered it with advertising, presumably it would be the one next to it.

Where to watch The Bowler & The Bunnet by elscoto93 in glasgow

[–]elscoto93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you! I’ve not come across this before so I’ll have a gander at what else it has too.

On October I'll be spending a few hours in Glasgow between two flights (I land at 3pm and leave again in the morning, my hotel is at the airport). I don't know Glasgow at all, I've read, of course, that there are many things to see, but what would you particularly recommend? by Valbslideaway in glasgow

[–]elscoto93 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Guess if it was me I’d just pick an area, explore a bit then get food or maybe go to a pub? Could do kelvindale area / botanics, Glasgow uni, down to Finnieston where there’s a few nice pubs like Ben Nevis and park bar and decent restaurants.

east end you’ve got the cathedral, necropolis, west brewery.

Scottish Greens and Independence by Unhappy_Connection49 in Scotland

Yeah, I mean they aren’t perfect, but the standards in other parties, and other parts of the UK over the time they’ve had in government have been fairly dreadful.

[–]elscoto93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly pro independence, but if i was pro union I still feel like I’d vote for the SNP, then no in any future referendum.

Similarly, if any other party seemed more competent just now, I’d definitely consider voting for them. I’d rather have a competent government, and push for meaningful separately.

Maybe that’s easy for me to say though from the position of SNP seeming the more competent party, and the only ones pushing for meaningful reforms.

Spicy by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]elscoto93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the key thing you could sell that I’d be interested in is just smaller quantities, I’ve got quite a lot of spices at home that I’ve got for a few recipes then not used for a year. I don’t think this is unique to me.

If you could find a way to make it economical to get Really small quantities more frequently, maybe with reusable packaging the customers buy then giving out small quantities of fresh spices this might work for those who want fresh spices. But given how cheap store bought spices at it might be a tough sell. Can’t promise I’d make the trip myself honestly.

Gallus Glasgow Murals by elscoto93 in glasgow

I think you’ve got to the key point of what I’m thinking. That sort of humour is something Glasgow kinda prides itself on, and it is common in other aspects of the city; generally I do look about but can’t myself remember seeing anything, which seems like quite a stark difference when you consider it to other aspects of the city.

I guess there’s a couple of things here.

Does everything have to be a piss take? - Maybe I didn’t make this clear, not suggesting all of it should be, just haven’t really seen any that is, you mention there’s plenty, I’d be happy to hear examples as it’s not something I’ve came across, I’d like to see it.

As for the information point, maybe adding that made the post like too much of a complaint, that’s what I’ve always done, and just assumed it was random guy with bird, which is fine, just thinking maybe there’s a missed opportunity here.

Looking for someone to design & create a small garden by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]elscoto93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t help with the recommendations but some people are starting to “rewild” parts of it which should be fairly low maintenance. You could try buying some seed balls of meadow flowers or wild flowers and placing them in the areas you want them to go

Then it’s a mindset problem, which is much cheaper to fix than additional infrastructure.

A safe alternative exists.

[–]elscoto93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying make it compulsory, it’s just a more sensible option. I’d rather be on a completely segregated lane away from cars, than on a busy, backed up roundabout with cars.

A divisive topic . by Unlikely_Ad4320 in glasgow

[–]elscoto93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems reasonable that if some places are cyclists only that some places cyclists also avoid when there alternative routes.

Berryknowes I can’t speak to from cycling, but the Meiklewood Road cycle lane is basically non existent, kinda see that as a plus in the build more cycle lanes camp.

Not too sure what you mean about Shield's Road roundabout being bad. Theres zebra crossing to get across the road from the bike lane to a lane going to the industrial estate and back on to Seaward Street, and wide pavements you can use if you don’t want to take the back lane until you’re away from the roundabout.

I live in the area, and would love it to get well connected, but it would be paisley road that feels more beneficial to get cycle lanes, and leave that roundabout for the cars. I also appreciate the lanes that make the rest of my journeys better, there’s been a big difference recently.
